I just bought some flowers, a planter box and soil. The staff was very friendly and they have many options to choose from. I gave them a 5 star rating!

I have bought several things at the nursery. I sometimes think they can get a little pricey, but they also will tell me what will grow around here and in the conditions at my place, and what won't, so guess that's worth the extra money. They have beautiful plants and someday I hope I can get some of their wood furniture and a fountain. They also have some beautiful gift items (music boxes, windchimes, knick knacks, garden tiles) that are great to give to people. I've been going there since I moved up here 2 years ago, and I'll keep going back.

They have a very helpful staff, but not the most healthy plants. I give them an B for service, but only an c- for the plants. I just bought a tree and other stuff there yesterday, just have to look real hard for good healthy ones.

Ok Guys & Gals...
Now your talking about some of my best friends, I think their the greatest, they travel long and far to get some of those unique items, they might be a little more pricey on some things compared to Lowes or Home Depot, but they also do not buy in the mass bulk like they do, but they do take better care of their plants which some times is kinda hard for this area and because of the sometimes crazy weather, but there always very helpful in explaining how to take care and whats best for your yard, ya just need to ask.
I like the ugly plant sale, where they take 60% off for plants/brush/tree's that are not doing so well, I got some great deals on some trees that are now beautiful.

My wife likes that too...
She's gotten some Grapes that look like the came from the Wrath of the Almighty, but this year they are kicking major rear end! http://oakhurstforums.com/icon/grin2.gif
She also took a chance and bought a Dragon's Eye Pine (varigated) that looked aweful... Even the people there asked her "You're buying that?!?" http://oakhurstforums.com/icon/grin2.gif It looks wonderful this year also!
My wife and I love to plant trees, specifically Conifers of many types. I like having exotic trees in my yard, like the Dawn Redwood from China. I also love the Blue Aptos Redwoods. We have a bunch of native trees to the area too, like Incense Cedars, Ponderosa, Jeffrey Pine, Lodgepole Pine, Giant Sequoia (not giant in my yard yet but...), Western Hemlocks, White Firs, I even have a Red Fir! (@ 3200 ft elev!) http://oakhurstforums.com/icon/pleased.gif
I've run out of room to plant almost. (guess I'll have to start planting trees on my neighbors properties when they aren't looking! http://oakhurstforums.com/icon/tongue2.gif j/k)
Stone Pines and Black Pines do well up here too...
I do have a small bone to pick every once in a while. It comes about because I'll ask for something particular, and they start getting worried about it surviving and not be able to guarantee it etc.
Hey... I understand the fact that some plants aren't meant for this area... It's my risk, just sell it as-is... http://oakhurstforums.com/icon/wink2.gif
We bought a Noble Fir one Christmas, we planted it, did great that year and the next, then all of a sudden it dried out and croaked. I think it was a gopher that shocked the root or something.
I won't go out and buy another one soon, but not because of WSN, only because I can't afford to pop $100 on a tree that will have a hard time up here every couple years... http://oakhurstforums.com/icon/wink2.gif
I am fond of Monterey Pines. They seem to have a nick name for them there at WSN. "Wonder Trees"... Because they Wonder if they'll make it... http://oakhurstforums.com/icon/tongue2.gif
I've had excellent luck with mine, but then I dote over them and all my trees like children too... http://oakhurstforums.com/icon/grin2.gif

The nursery is great. I buy lots of things there and although they are a bit more money than the discount stores, the selection is good and Robin always tried to get me any plants I ask for. They are knowledgeable and helpful and also always ready to find any new varieties I might want. Super business with super people. A+ rating from me.

I am no good at plants http://oakhurstforums.com/icon/no.gif, I'm going to have to get a gardner to take care of the plants and lawn already at the house we're buying. http://oakhurstforums.com/icon/grin2.gif HOWEVER... I LOVE the nursery http://oakhurstforums.com/icon/yes.gif, There are so many unique items, little gifts and I could probably spend all day there, and all my money.

We love Western Sierra Nursery! We've been going there for the last year since we moved up here. Mark and Robin are always helpful.
We even took a weed in there we had no idea what it was and asked them. They pulled out a Madera county weed binder and let us leaf (no pun intended) through it to try to find and identify it. (couldn't find it, but every other weed we have was in the book!)
I agree, a bit on the pricey side, but for convenience, knowledge and the fact they sell only what they know grows well here, its worth it.
Mark was great to give me a bag of daffodils once when I came in a week after I bought a ton of Tulip bulbs and saw them all on sale!!! UG!!! I could have saved some $$$... I jokingly mentioned itto him, he gave me a great big bag of Daffodil bulbs. I thought that was very nice, customer-service oriented and he bought my loyalty!
He's also said that if I want to order plants in bulk, to give him advance notice and he'll see what kind of discount he can give me.
They have wonderful items that make great gifts in their indoor shop, lots of pots, fountains and benches/seats...
I give them an A+ for creating a fun, inviting place to go visit (whether you want to buy a plant or not!)
