Has anyone tried the "Thunderbird" email program, by Fire Fox?
Its a free download. I've just downloaded it and so far I like it a lot more than Outlook, except that it doesn't have a calendar.
What I like most is NO JUNK MAIL - NONE! I also like that the setup was easy, as it copied over everything including my saved emails from Outlook (it didn't erase anything from Outlook, just copied 'em over, so I can always go back to Outlook and start off using it right now again). The only thing it didn't automatically do was to copy over my passwords for accessing my email accounts, and the message filters. And since most people don't even use message filters, this wouldn't affect 95% of folks.
Anyone else tried this email program?
Any thoughts on it? Like it? Don't like it?

Nas,
I've downloaded Thunderbird some time ago. It works fine, but I still use the Netscape mail program (for the same reason a lot of my appliances blink 12:00)
I do my best to avoid Microsoft products. I just am not comfortable with what seems to me to be a "Big Brother" attitude that Microsoft projects.
BTW, have you checked out Open Office? Does almost everthing MS Office does and it's open source!!! Free!!!

I don't particularly avoid Microsoft.
I generally avoid programs people tell me are going to solve all my problems. They're "open source!" - and, why do I care? I'm not a developer. "They have tabbed browers!" they tell me. And how is that so different? "Microsoft is a dirty capitalist, and Gates is a money grubbing billionare!" someone says. Yet Gates gives billions - with a capital B - to charity, and if I came up with a product that litterally millions of people used I should hope - nay expect - to be paid up the wazoo for thinkning it up and working for it.
I do like Free. Which is one of the reasons why I like Thunderbird. I like that much more than 'open source." But the main reason I like
Thunderbird is that it completely and absolutely elimiates junk mail.

Nas,
I don't disagree with you on Gates, the man. He will go down in history as a great man for bringing us out of the analog world. On the other hand I read "Computer Weekly," a trade magazine specific to the computer world. There are red flags going up everywhere. In the business world, Microsoft's Marketing arm is viewed as using boaderline unethical tactics to bolster their business. Microsoft is losing court case after court case oversea's for their monopolistic tactics to crush the competition. Microsoft's new products contain software that sends data back to the corporate office about you and your computer, without your knowledge. I like this about as much as I like the Bush administration screening my calls.
Regarding "Open source," I ment to imply freeware. I will chose my words more carefully in the future. I would encourage you to download and try Open Office. It's a fabulous office suite that costs nothing. The state of Massachusetts is now requiring their state agencies to use "open document" format on all state documents. Other states and countries are starting to follow suit.

Open source sounds interesting, I'll take a look.
I say thank you to all those hard working anti-terrorist folks, including Bush, who have kept us from another 9/11 for the past 4 years.
I'm not worried abou them "screening my calls." First off thats intellectually dishonest to put it that way. Secondly, I don't have any terrorists calling from out of country, which iare the only calls that are 'screened.' And I used to work with databases, so for the in country 'screening' I realize that they're just looking at pattern matching of phone numbers to phone numbers. Automated, for the most part too - until a 'hit' comes up that matches to a terrorist. Same thing the phone companies already do.
I hope they continue to have success in stopping the terrorists from murdering more of our neighbors.
