I realize that Yosemite Lakes Parks is barely in the area But, how can you guys have a vote and not include the Blue Heron. I have been to almost every resturant in the entire mountian region. And no one has the food he has. His Artichokes are wonderful, the Tornados of Beef rival none.

There isn't a Resturant on the list that compares. It should be included.

There is one more Resturant that I here is wonderful, it is Ocean Sierra out on Triangle Rd. Only open a few days a week.

Thanks for the advise. I'll check them both out!

I have never been to Crab Cakes. I'm going to give it a try soon! It looks like I'm missing out on a great restaurant.

I think it is funny that Castilios has not been named in any post about Resaurants.
But we all know the food is bland there.

I prefer El Cid's, but my husband likes Castillo's. I'm usually happy with any Mexican food I get. I tried the Castillo's at Bass Lake and wasn't too impressed with it, but they have had a hard time of things since they don't have a liquor license yet. So, I'll probably try it again in summer. I've heard the Mexican place in North Fork is awesome, but haven't been there yet.

I'm not familiar at all with YLP, but I'd like to try the resturant, where abouts is it?

The resturant is in the main club house. I guess I should note that the Chef there has won a few "Chef of the Valley" awards as well.

I love the Mountain House! I go there about once a week. I also go to Pete's Place quite often. Now that its summer time, I go to The Forks and Millers a lot.

I love the mountain house too. I don't care for the mexican or chinese places up here there not authentic like the ones in big cities. One dollor tacos are to die for marinated carne asada tacos of course. I just wish we had more to choose from.

One time I got a big chunk of broken glass in my refried beans there! They just wanted to know if I wanted more! Uhhhhhhh .... no!

Has anyone really thought that we don't have a decent, casual burger place here? No Red-Robin style, sit-down-and-order-from-a-server place thats not overpriced or just bad. Up here it seems either fast-food (and a stomach ache to boot), Pizza (still comes with a stomach ache), or a restraunt that's just not worth the prices charged.

And on the issue you're discussing, have you guys not been to the Velvet Rose? I thought it was outstanding. Service was lacking, but then again the job pool up here isn't great, so a 23 guy who spends his money at the bar down the street should have to do I suppose.

You have about 7 or 8 places to sit down and order a burger, some are over priced, but only a few of them are worthy of ordering.

You make the choice

If you want a great dessert go to Crab Cakes. She makes the best.

The Jade Gazebo with a new chef and new manager is as good as any Chinese food you will find elsewhere including S.F.

Id like a nice place with a patio... comfy, music playing... but Bryan is right.. no middle of the road place. just pizza and take out.. or costly sit down meals. and while we are at it.. the Pines needs to improve their MaiTai making skills.

Went to the Forks for the first time last week, great burgers and fries! Also really enjoyed a chocolate Pepsi! (w/ free refills!) http://oakhurstforums.com/icon/hungry.gif

I did an extensive survey of the Forks Burgers this past season. I found the spring/early summer burgers weren't quite ripe yet. By July/August the burgers were really coming into season. And I have to say... the late harvest October burgers were really sweet http://oakhurstforums.com/icon/nice.gif

I haven't tried Hondo's or Crab Cakes, so I will make it a point. El Cid, Mountain House and Oka's are all good. I think I like 'em in that order. http://oakhurstforums.com/icon/lol420.gif

Ever had a burger from Jones Store (?) up on Beasore? That's a burger.
I think they'll open again around Memorial Weekend.

I believe the Mountain House is up for sale, but has not been sold yet, so lets hope its as good or better when the new owners take over.
