Sounds Fun!
Is this Len who I think it is? Saw you last Saturday night - you were hosting the birthday Karaoke party at the Blue Heron?
Figured out that darn song's band! Newcomer knows it!

Hi Kahlua Kid. Yes, Iâm the one and same Len. (Never thought Iâd actually ever write a sentence like that.)
Elaine says the song in question is âWhat is Loveâ by Haddaway. The film (A Night At The Roxbury) also uses: âDisco Infernoâ; âPop Muzikâ; âBeautiful Lifeâ and N-Tranceâs âDo You Think Iâm Sexy?â
Newcomerâs a friend of ours. Sheâs talented, smart and can really dance, so Iâm not surprised she knows the answer.
I thought one of the highlights of the evening was Barbara and Gangâs âGirls Just Want To Have Fun.â Liz, Heather, Jim, Clifford and Brent were great too.
Weâve got some untapped talent in this area, and itâs going to be interesting to watch people perform comedy. We want to create a supportive environment where people can refine their standup. It takes time to develop an act. Even Jay Leno still tests his monologues on comedy club audiences â and Jayâs a natural! Actually, Iâd love to film the entire process of putting this thing together, getting footage of the acts before, during and after, etc. If you know anyone whoâd like to work with us on a documentary, have him or her give us a call. Specifically, weâd need a videographer. Our number is (559) 692-2148.
Beautiful Mess, come on out and give it a try. Weâre looking for 3 to 5 minute bits. Itâll be a real experience.
Yosemite Wolf, I donât think thereâll be any kids in the bar that night â not unless theyâve skipping a dinner engagement at Chucky Cheese. I think kids would be allowed in, however, with parental accompaniment. I remember getting kicked out of a bar when I was 12. I was thirsty and feeling particularly generous after collecting all my paper route money. So I walked in the place, sat at the end of the bar and said, âSoda pop for everybody!â Didnât work.

If we can, we'll come out and play. (Usually don't on "school" (Work) nights!)
Newcomer is my hubby Len - I'm the dancer... ok, my reputation really does proceed me around here! But Newcomer is the crooner and knows music and bands in one note - no kidding!
It would be fun to put together a "Name that Tune" event - we've always wanted to do that for a fundraiser for the Kennedy's Disease Association (non-profit we founded about 6 years ago).
If we can be there - we'll see ya!

Hi again,
This link should take you to Yahoo Maps and show the location of the clubhouse: Blue Heron Lounge (http://maps.yahoo.com/dd_result?newaddr=49&taddr=30250+Yosemite+Springs+Pkwy&csz=93644&country=us&tcsz=93614&tcountry=us&oerr=4004)
Basically, if you're coming from Oakhurst, travel south on Hwy 41 to Yosemite Lakes Park and turn right.

Hi folks,
I just want to keep you updated. We had a pretty good first night. People had fun, and we had some good singers. I was the only one telling jokes but I'm hoping to get other people up there to perform along with me. It's a great place to test out your comedic material and see how well you're able to catch flying fruits and vegetables. I caught enough to keep me in salad for a week.
Bon appetit,
Len

Hi Yosemite Wolf,
We weren't there on the 3rd - only on the 1st. I recently met the guys from Stone River and they're a pretty good group.
My mistake. I thought "Necomer" was a mutual handle for both Kahlua & hubby. I think I remember seeing their picture together under that handle. Anyway, I was refering to the KK.
You should come out and do some standup. I think we're going to have one or two more comics next Thursday. By the way, who's "Messy"? I don't know the players yet.
Hope to see you there,
Len & Elaine

Update:
Last Thursday we had a great crowd. We had some terrific singers, and Sharon G. got up and did some story telling. No one wet their pants at my jokes - but I'm used to that. Russ got the big laughs of the evening with his rendition of AC/DCs "Big Balls." He's a talented guy, and we're hoping to have him do something next week. Amanda, Neil, Rob, Debbie, Jerry (Coarsegold's Elvis) and others sang. (Sorry, I don't know all the names yet.)

Update: The word is really getting around, and there was a great crowd last Thursday (12-22-05) - with some really fine singers. We still need to get the message out to http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/eusa_dance.gif comics http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/eusa_dance.gif. A few people told me they want to get up and try out a routine but were afraid. That's understandable. But the truth is, you'll never learn how to swim if you don't enter the pool. We won't be there on December 29th because we're doing a wedding. But we'll be there the following Thursday, January 5, 2006. Hope to see you then.

Hi Van's Mama,
That's fine. You can sing funny or tell jokes with a sing-song voice or whatever. The idea is to have fun.

My oldest son can make people literally fall to the floor laughing, holding their sides and saying it hurts and begging for him to stop because they can't breathe, but his kind of humor can sometimes be very politically incorrect -- it would never fly in most places where the public goes, but probably 95% of all people would die laughing in a private setting with that guy. Yesterday he even had his straight-laced, religious grandmother in out-of-control laughing fits.

Hi Catabrat,
Politically incorrect is okay. I'd love to see his act. Bring him down and have him give it a go. And if grandma ever becomes a holy roller, that out of control mode will come in real handy.

Hi Feelinfroggie,
We have nothing at all against people who look like frogs or vice versa. Just make sure you don't come down on a day the restaurant is serving French cuisine.

Len: He is currently preparing to move out of the area, so probably wouldn't have a chance from this point on to do anything besides packing, but I will at least tell him about your invitation. I am not sure how he feels about getting up in front of people in public, but he sure has friends and family rolling on the floor.

Hi Catdabrat,
We won't be there this Thursday (December 29th) but we'll be there the next week, January 5, 2006. (God, it's hard for me to write 2006! Time moves too quickly.) I'm sorry to hear he's moving out of the area. We need as many funny people around here, and no doubt you're going to miss him. If you want to stop by and say "hi" it'd be great to meet you both. If he wants to try something on stage, he's more than welcome. But there'll be no pressure on him to perform.

Hi Mysteefied,
It was nice seeing you again at Gotschalks. They had some pretty good sales going on that day, and we found a few things to buy.
If you click on "Scientists Study 'Skinwalker Ranch'" the video should open up. Hope it works for you.
UPDATE: We're going to be at the Blue Heron Lounge this Thursday, January 5th. Last Thursday we weren't there due to a previous commitment. And, no, it did not involve a straitjacket.

Hey you â the freaky acting dude with the eye in the middle of your forehead. Do people laugh at the way you look? Do they say, âYou should be on stageâ¦better yet, be under itâ? Then come on down to the Blue Heron Lounge and try out your standup (clean material only please). Itâs held every Thursday night starting at 7 PM and provides a great opportunity to rehearse your cyclops routine in a ânot yet ready for prime timeâ environment.
Or if you just want to sing the William Hung version of âShe Bangsâ or âLa Dodo la Doâ by Celine Dion, you can get up and do some karaoke. Weâve got thousands of karaoke songs for you to choose from.
The Blue Heron Lounge is located on Clubhouse Drive in Yosemite Lakes Park. Arrive early if youâre hungry. You can eat in either the restaurant or the lounge. If you have any questions (and not questions like âWhatâs the literal English translation of âLa Dodo la Doâ?) call Len at (559) 692-2148 â (All Occasion Music And Entertainment)
