I've just aquired a brand new IMac...I'm going to hook it up today. I'm interested to learn all the bells and whistles it comes with, but does anyone have any opinions or experience with switching over that they want to share?
My PC is almost brand new, but this new Mac is incredible...I have no idea where to start!!

http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif Congratulations on a great purchase. I am an iMac owner also and it is wonderful, I wouldn't trade it for anything, except a newer Mac. I have never done a PC to Mac transfer so I can't help at all, plus I really don't do alot with my Mac except surf the net. I do have the program Virtual PC which lets me do the occasional PC thing on my Mac.
Any way, I'm no help, just wanted to say Hurray! and let the Mac owners rule http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif

Congrats on your new Mac!
I have been working in the IT industry for well over 15 years, and switched from a PC to a Mac about 5 years ago. I couldn't be happier. IMHO most of the things I like to do (record music, show/edit photos, make DVD's from home movies, etc.) can be done with the software that ships with OS X....and it can be done more intuitively and more efficiently.
The cold reality though is that not every program you'll want to use will be available for OS X. For this reason you'll want to get a copy of either Parallels or Boot camp and install it on your Mac (let's you run Windows on your Mac).
Good luck, and welcome to the (ever growing) Mac Family!

Good job. Yeah macs are really good i have had good experience with them. I dont personally have the money for them but i think they are killer at video editing. All the videos i've done have been on them with no trouble.

Macs and PCs are both great. It just depends on what system you cut your teeth on. :)

To reply to this quote, you need a Mac with an Intel processor, which all current Mac's now have. Which is sad, because now the only difference between a Mac and a PC (Laptop), is that a PC is cheaper, and you have the ability to choose more options for it. One of my examples is my laptop, which is a Dell Inspiron E1705.
Dell Inspiron E1705
* Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2ghz
* 2GB DDR2 @ 667mhz
* 100GB 7200 RPM HDD
* 17" WUXGA TFT Screen @ 1920x1200
* nVidia 7900 Graphics Card 256MB
* Bluetooth (integrated)
If I bought a Mac, for the same price, I would of gotten something far inferior..
Mac 15"
* 2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
* 1GB DDR2 @ 667mhz
* 120GB 5400 RPM HDD
* 15" WXGA TFT Screen @ 1440 x 900
* ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics with 128MB SDRAM

Holy hell, my favorite debate, and I didn't start it... Actually, I wouldn't call this thread a debate, more of just a "I have a Mac! Look at me"..........
Ok, some people get a Mac, so they can run Windows. One of the bad things that I have a problem with that, is there is no damn right mouse button on Macbooks. Here is my reply, HAHA. I run three different operating systems on my laptop: Gentoo (Linux), Mac OSX, Windows XP. I currently have no reason to quad-boot to have Windows Vista at the moment.
You may ask me why I run OSX when I obviously don't like Mac's? Well, it's so people don't accuse me of not having to of used the Operating System. I am planning on in the next two weeks to format and just dual-boot with Gentoo and Windows XP, as I have had no use for OS X. There is one upside to the Mac OSX, they are very, I mean very easy to use.
Not to mention, Apple is just like Alienware, they make/produce overpriced computers and laptops. Mac's have one thing for them, only Apple makes them, so they can control the price.
It's late at night, and I may of forgotten a few thngs to say.

One thing people never do is research......
It's surprising on what you can get if you do your research, instead of just going for the name.

When I read Steve Mermelstein's article here at LG which indicated that Chris Pirillo has given some thought about switching over to a Mac, it made me wonder just what the heck is going on here? I was trying to ... via Lockergnome Nexus (http://www.lockergnome.com/nexus/blade/2007/06/11/switching-to-a-mac-pirillo-is-even-giving-it-some-thought/)

I don't have a Mac, just PCs, but I congratulate you on your new purchase!
I just had to pipe in here regarding the most recent Mac commercials. They are halarious! They are doing a really great marketing campain on slamming Microsoft, so I could see the popularity of Macs rise shortly.
