I ended up having Pizza Factory pizza for lunch from the North Fork location... yum! It was very good and the service was great! The breadsticks are so good!

There should be separate catagories for 'food' & 'service'.
The food is usually really good, while the service varies. (Lots of giggles & personal talk between staff in front of customers.)
The young lady who helped me the last time I was in was especially sweet. She is running for queen? princess? in the upcoming Logggers Jamboree. She charmed me into sponsoring her by purchasing some raffle tickets....hope she makes it, go in & pick a few up yourself....you might get lucky. (In the raffle)

The food is as tasty as ever, but I recently ordered an "all meat" pizza and when I opened the box lid, I was surprised that compared to how they used to be, there was really hardly any meat on it and not anywhere near the variety there once was. All of my guests looked at it and said the same thing. Maybe it was just a one-time thing, depending on who was preparing it that night. At least, I hope that's all it was! Basically, it was a cheese pizza with just enough meat here and there to keep it legal!

It really does matter who makes the pizza. I'd say that about 9 out of 10 pizzas I've had were very good, but once in awhile a bad one slips in. I agree with Sandman the breadsticks are excellent.

I have a suggestion for all pizza parlors and it is something I do when I prepare a pizza at home using pepperoni slices. I line a plate with paper towels, place the pepperoni slices on it, then put another layer of paper on top. Then I nuke it just slightly so the fat melts, blot it up with the paper, then put the slices on the pizza. That way, you do not have all that disgusting grease oozing and dripping all over.
One time I observed a little girl at a Pizza Factory, who was a guest at a cclassmate's birthday party. A slice of pepperoni pizza was on a paper plate. She went to pick it up but the grease had soaked through the plate, made a pool on the table and was literally dripping off the slice. She looked at her mom in dismay and actually said, "Do I have to eat this?"
Another time, I ordered a pepperoni pizza to go, and since nobody was with me, I had to place the cardboard box on the seat of my car while I drove home. I picked it up, then noticed that the grease had drained off to one corner and had oozed out all over the upholstery fabric. I know it was dumb of me not to have placed an old towel down first, but this problem could be eliminated by "degreasing" the pepperoni. Takes just a small amount of time,, and the results are so pleasing! I know a lot of people say the flavor is in the fat, but that's a bit too much "flavor!"

the old towel is a good idea! i always get extra napkins and a few menus when taking a pizza home in my car.

menus down first, then napkins, then pizza http://oakhurstforums.com/icon/grin2.gif

That is my only big problem with them, other than that I really like their pizzas. You know if they would just put a pice of foil in the bottom of the box then maybe I could make it home with out a mess.

just a note about the suggestions....good ones they are but if you worked at Pizza Factory you would understand why it is not really feasible to use the suggestions. If it is slow..they could do some of them but when it is busy...they barely have time to Make the pizza let alone do anything extra. The reason there is usually so much grease with their meat pizza'a is due to they put so much on the pizza ( more than most places) To microwave the meat for each pizza would be nearly impossible and I doubt any of you would want it pre microwaved?????????? Besides I don't recall a microwave being used in any preparation at Pizza Factory. Just fyi for those of you that enjoy their pizza http://oakhurstforums.com/icon/pleased.gif

I know that de-greasing pepperoni takes time and things get hectic, but if such a service was to cost more, to allow for the inconvenience, I would gladly pay it. Most people probably would not, though. Actually, it wouldn't bother me to have "pre-microwaved" pepperoni on my pizza, if the slices had been degreased at a time when it wasn't such a rush. Grease or not, they do taste good!

I had Pizza Factory today while driving though North Fork. They were out of Ranch and Blue Cheese dressing. The staff was rude. I was shocked at how I was treated in there. The pizza was good.

Having worked at Oakhurst Pizza Factory for 2 years before, and eaten at both...Yeah Oakhurst has a lot to get from Northfork...But (spoiler) North Fork Pizza will soon be no better than oakhurst. The difference is in the ovens (one is conveyor, oakhurst, and the other is Brick, NF), and within 2 years, ALL pizza factories will be conveyor. They're not as good, but much faster and easier for the cooks.

Thanks for the info Bryan. I wasn't aware that they used a brick oven in North Fork.

When I pay $19.90 for a pizza, I always hope to get something more than 50 percent crust. I know it sometimes depends on who is working when, but more and more often lately, I am having to add toppings myself (on to go orders).

I open the box and see the toppings only cover the inner circle and the outer part is about half the pizza, just plain old crust. Granted, the crust is very delicious and so are the toppings, but I see definite cutbacks in the amount of toppings put on these days. That's a very expensive hunk of crust I am getting!

Also, if I order a special kind and then I am informed the restaurant is all out of one or two key ingredients, it kinda would be nice to either get a break on the price or be offered alternate toppings.

North Fork Pizza Factory is pretty good. But it's hit or miss, depending on who's working. Just like Diccico's in Fresno when I lived there. You never know what you are going to get. But still, the North Fork one is better than the Oakhurst one by far.

"the North Fork one is better than the Oakhurst one"

That's good to know -- I really wasn't sure because I do not ever go to the one in Oakhurst. I wish there was some way that the different pizza makers could be more consistent so it isn't a hit or miss situation when ordering. (And hopefully, the consistency would lean toward a hefty amount of toppings!) http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/tongue.gif
