I'm with ya on Mig, Messy...just don't see INXS behind a female lead - though Suzy is incredible! And I've wanted Ty gone for sooooooooo long - almost since the start. I could really see Marty there though too......
What a great show this has turned out to be! Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than IDOL!

I have always thought that Marty has what it takes from the first episodes and am sticking with it. If Mig Wins I would also be happy but Marty is my first choice.

Can't stand JD cuz he's such a jerk, but he is hot. I like Ty and Suzie and really all the rest left right now but Mig is my fav. in both personality and talent.

They all did really good last night, and I agree with Sheila, I dont think they'll put in a female lead,

But for doing Queen and Pink Floyd, those are some really tuff songs to sing http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/yes.gif

Yeah I agree, I never did see a female lead as going to be selected by INXS I just think they had to open it up to all for PC reasons and Ratings (not cutting out any portion of the viewing audience) Great Idea for a show and the Band INXS though to have a contest to find a new lead singer. It has made me take out my INXS CD which I had not listened to in a long time and start listening again.

JD fortune (what a ******* name) has a real attitude problem. When others perform, most of the time he looks like he is pouting and he thinks he is better than the rest of them by going off on his own and that is something that INXS is not looking for. At this point he had been brought along just to keep things edgy for the ratings. Mig has a great personality and stage presence and a great voice. I just have a feeling about Marty and the way the band has reacted to him all along from the beginning. I think they already know. The girls have great voices to and will find their spot in the rock world just not with INXS I don't think.

Last night was a great show and it will be interesting to see who goes home tonight. At the end it showed JD, Marty and Ty but then you just never know. Would like to see JD and Ty go home. Susie's pretty good also but like others said don't see them picking a female. I think Marty would like to be in a heavy rock band and Mig well my vote is on him. Stay tuned.....

Marty Bio

Marty is the youngest of six children. He attended the University of Illinois, Champaign, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. Upon completion of his studies, he interned for the Illinois Board of Trade for six months and then with a record label.

In 1998, Marty began working as a commercial real estate appraiser. Also, his original song "Rain on the Brain" was a finalist in the Pop Category of the John Lennon songwriting contest.

Marty started his band, Lovehammers, when he was 14 years old, and they've been together ever since. The band has sold over 12,000 records and is a Chicago area favorite. Marty's style has been described by critics as a cross between Mick Jagger and Iggy Pop. The Lovehammers recently completed a 21 city national tour, where they opened for Cake and Gomez.

Lovehammers have also opened for Nickelback, Jerry Cantrell, Puddle of Mudd, Interpol, Lifehouse and New Found Glory. The band's single "The Tunnel" will be featured in the motion picture "Communication Breakdown." Their single "Say You're Sorry" will be featured in the motion picture "Greener." And, another single, "This Town," has been chosen to be the theme song for the World Shidokan Championships on ESPN. The band was recently seen in a Commonwealth Edison regional television commercial.

In March 2003, the Lovehammers DVD Live/Raw debuted at #1 on the Billboard Musical DVD Chart.

Marty's birth date is September 26, 1973.

Mig Bio

Born in Manila, Philippines (where his parents are from), Mig's family moved to Sydney, Australia, when he was 2 years old. Mig was studying communications at Macquarie University in Sydney when he was offered the role of Ritchie Valens in the theater production of "Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story." He decided to put his studies on hold and went on tour with the production all across Australia.

Mig has since performed in theater, commercials, television series and films. He has also been part of the bands Randy Badass & The Slickmaster Five, Lovetown, The Honkies and The Riva Band.

Mig moved from Sydney to London in 2002 so that he could look for a publishing company for his material. Brian May from the band Queen took an interest in his work and they are working on a collaboration with his band Mignition. Mig most recently starred as Galileo in London's West End production of "We Will Rock You."

Mig currently lives in London, and his birth date is January 12, 1970.

JD Fortune Bio -

J.D. was raised between Nova Scotia and Toronto in the country listening to his grandfather sing. Jason began his training in becoming an A$$hole at a very young age. He left high school when he was offered a job on a television show ad ever since he has thought he was born to be god's gift to the world.

J.D. was involved with a rock band for six years before they threw hiss A$$ out the door because of his arrogant nature. Then he enrolled in the Canadian Army to take out his built up frustration and practice his acts of deception on his enimies. Four months later, he instigated his departure via discharge. He then worked as an Elvis impersonator for the next few years but failed at that miserably.

J.D. has performed in the Angry performer Festival and at the Skydome in Toronto in front of 50,000 people. He was seriously injured by a piece of fruit that hit him in the head during a barrage of food. He says he is a die-hard INXS fan and during the middle of the compitition even started wearing synglasses just like the band while performing to attemt to look like them. This was a major kiss a$$ attemt at trying to swoon us stated one of the INXS band members. He loves being on stage and trying to get hooked up with chicks in the audience.

He most recently worked as an entertainer and writer (pop songs) for a television show (Spongebob Squarepants).

One of his most well know hits was from a past TV series. The song was the Barney theme. (I love you you love me).

A strict vegetarian, J.D. is also a childrens martial arts instructor where he loves to beat on the little kids in the class. He states that it builds his self esteem.

His birth date is September 1, 1973.

They are all super talented and I'm sure they will all get a recording contract as a result of the show. Jordis's perfomance of "Imagine" by John Lennon last night was so awesome! I just love her voice. She is certain to move on to bigger and better things. I agree with Rima, Ty is a super talent, but he doesn't really have the right sound. I really didn't respect his little speech after losing tonight. I think Marty has the right sound and style for Inxs. As far as I'm concerned though, Michael Hutchence can never be replaced.

SheilaMae
Sep 01, 2005, 02:19 AM
Well, I'm glad to see Ty gone now. His speech was what I expected from him, basically. Everyone has spoke of JD's arrogance but Ty has been at least equally arrogant in my opinion. (first time I heard him respond to INXS's constructive criticism he was bound to "show 'em" they needed him and his sound - not seemingly willing at all to realize he's there to fit into an existing, successful group. Ticked me off and I've wanted his butt gone ever since) Now to see JD leave next week...

Newcomer - thanks for the bio info. I'm gonna hafta talk to my son and daughter and a couple friends back home in Chicago and see if anyone I know has seen Marty's group live. Sounds as if he's well on his way even without hookin' up with INXS, huh????

I wanted to see JD leave, and I think they all sucked singing the INXS songs last night, and I thought JD was the worse out of all of them...

a few of us thought that only Marty and Mig have a chance to be the front man for this group...and I agree I think those 2 are the best candidates http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/yes.gif

Loved Imagine too by Jordis, but still dont think INXS will choose a woman.

I hate it when colored people cry race when they don't get what they want. Ty is very talented. However he's been in the bottem 3, 3 times and JD once. It's only fair they let him go.

It will come down to Mig & Marty.
I'm still with Mig. I feel he works the stage better then Marty. I like his style better. although they will both have careers after this.

I loved Ty from the very first time I saw him perform, but knew he didn't fit INXS.

I've always thought Mig... Newcomer has always thought Marty.

Tough choice for them.

Suzie is really coming on strong.

I think 5 of the top 6 will be picked up for career (including Ty).

Too bad he felt he needed to make that comment. If he'd just kept positive and said, "I know I don't fit INXS with my soul rock style, but I know I'll have a succesful career going forward"... I think he regretted saying what he said the minute it came out of his mouth, he knew how it sounded and I think he wanted to take it back... oh well.

Hey, I was just having some fun with JD's bio. No harm done.

TY went last night because he got the words wrong in a couple of lines in INXS's song oterwise I think it might have been JD. I really resented TY's comment about race. I bet if Johnny Cochran was still alive he would be contacting him LOL. TY is a soul man not really a rock man and INXS made the right decision. TY reminded me of the singer in the band Living Colour with the hit "Cult of peronality".

I hate to get up on my soapbox about marty but I like the way he handles himself both with the band and the other members, Mig does the same. I would love for INXS to have both Marty & Mig as members of the band sharing the stage. Now that woould rock! But it would probably lead to difficulties down the road.

P.S They talked about a CD being released on Sept 20th with some of the best performances. ANyone have anymore info on this?

Newcomer and KK - house divided!

Love Mig!!! Love Susie (but know she won't be it in the end). Think Jordis will have her own career after this show.

I agree though JD did a great job (first time you'll hear me say that) and I thought his original song came closest to INXS sound...

Marty - cross between The Cure and Crash Test Dummies!!!

You all know I love Mig and I hope he wins this competition. Last night was the best I've seen JD and Suzy really played up her vocals. Marty did exactly what INXS wants. I loved his song Trees. Yeah...kinda knew it would be Jordis going home this week but hey, she WILL be heard from in the not too distant future, I'm sure. I kinda got a sadistic charge watching JD's face full of fear as he had to do the bottom three thing. (Thought Mig musta been thinkin' he was hallucinating when it wasn't him there) I don't think JD has a chance - I wasn't at ALL impressed with his performance of 'Mystify' and I can't imagine INXS was. Actually...of the remaining oddly enuf Suzy prolly has the best chance if they'd actually pick a female since they've seen her so frequently in the bottom three thus having had to perform actual INXS songs (and I think she gets better with each one). And no matter where Mig or Marty end up if they perform anywhere I can get to I'll go!

I think Mig did a great job last night, I was really impressed, I thought it would come down to him and Marty, I'm not sure what INXS thought about his speach the other day about being Passive controlling, but we knew Sally would not last, not because she's a bad singer, but she really doesnt fit in with this band.

Mig must have a lots of people/friends voting for him, TC reminded me that every performance he has to take off his shirt or show his chest, but I guess "what ever works"....

Let's just say I am dissapointed but I saw this coming but did not want to face it. Mark Burnett has a way of showing you the shots and making you think one way from what you see and then shocking you at the end. Maybe they figured they could mold JD into what they wanted and saw him as a project. He does sound pretty good on some of INXS's songs but I just hope he does not get an attitude & big head and piss them off. As for Marty, maybe they figured that Marty has his own band and now has an enormous fan base and with them opening the tour for INXS his band will have it made now anyways so it's a win win for them all. It just goes to show you that what looks like a sure thing often is not. It's all in the spin.

INXS hopes to have found a new sensation in the form of a onetime Elvis impersonator.

The Australian band tapped J.D. Fortune as its lead singer on CBS' Rock Star: INXS Tuesday, ending 13 weeks of American Idol-style competition among 15 performers.

"We're a band now," the 31-year-old Canadian singer told E! Online after his win.

"We're complete. That's an amazing thing. And I don't think age has anything to do with it because music is a language, and if you speak it fluently you can speak to other people in that language. And we all speak it fluently."

Fortune--who once paid the bills by imitating the King and, when that failed, lived out of a car--was true to his name, beating out Chicago rocker Marty Casey and Australian performer MiG Ayesa in the one-hour Rock Star finale.

The three performers each got to choose a classic rock cut to perform in front of INXS, cohosts Brooke Burke and
Dave Navarro, the 12 eliminated contestants and a live audience at the same Los Angeles studio where American Idol is taped. (Producers built a replica of downtown L.A.'s Mayan Theater inside the complex; the Mayan was the site of the band's final L.A. concert with the late Michael Hutchence.)

Ayesa, who gave up a lead role in the London-based Queen musical We Will Rock You to pursue the INXS gig, kicked off the show with a polished version of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody." Fortune followed with an uptempo take on the Rolling Stones' "You Can't Always Get What You Want." Casey ended the set with an intense rendition of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here."

After a brief deliberation by the band members--Andrew, Tim and Jon Farriss, Kirk Pengilly and Garry Beers--Ayesa was given his walking papers. (Thus disproving an Internet conspiracy theory that he was the show's ringer brought in by the band and show producer Mark Burnett.)

The five band members then took the stage and performed one INXS song with each of the finalists. Crowd favorite Casey sang "Don't Change," while the brash Fortune, who was portrayed during the season as the most focused contestant, belted out "What You Need." After another deliberation, Tim Farriss announced Fortune as the new frontman.

After the finale, which was taped at 10 a.m., and post-show mini-concert during which the new INXS broke out some new material, including the song "Easy, Easy," Fortune met with the press.

"I'm going to sleep all day," he said, adding that his second rock star indulgence would be to "hang out with INXS all the time."

Fortune will get his wish soon enough. He's due in the studio to lay down vocals on the band's full-length album, Switch, on Nov. 29, with a world tour commencing in early 2006. Switch represents INXS' first new studio set since Hutchence's suicide in 1997.

"He's very passionate," bassist Beers said of his new mate. "He's got a lot of energy. And we feel comfortable about what hes going to bring to INXS and appreciate what we are offering him more than anybody. He's now an equal member of the brain trust of INXS performance-wise and in the studio. And that will unfold as we go along."

The band, with Fortune in tow, will now write songs together in addition to rehearsing tunes from INXS' back catalog of hits in advance of the fall release and impending word tour.

Already, "Pretty Vegas," a song Fortune cowrote with Andrew Farris during Rock Star, is set to become a new single. It will be released Wednesday on Epic Records.

The tune was the second-best-selling single on MSN Music as of Tuesday, behind, ironically enough, Casey's original song "Trees."

Despite losing out to Fortune, the 31-year-old Casey won't disappear. Tim Farris said during the finale that INXS "would like to talk to you about possibly opening up for us on our upcoming world tour."

As for the other aspiring Rock Star contestants, they told the audience in between takes at the taping that they were all continuing to pursue musical careers.

Meanwhile, show mastermind Burnett said he's already looking forward to a new edition of Rock Star with a different band. "We're in a lot of discussions with people," he told E! Online. "I think that you're very, very likely to see Rock Star: Season Two."
