I had a request for pictures of some of my candles. We are currently open for business at the Farmer's Market in Mariposa on Wednesdays between 5 and 8. We hope to expand our locations as time goes by. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif
A gathering of all the candles...

A couple of my novelty candles. The sugar bowl is pretty old leaded glass.

More novelty candles.

Milk glass vase.

Since these are soy candles, the containers are easily cleaned for future use. And soy burns clean and long.
We have found this business to be a lot of fun so far. We hope some of you will stop by our booth and say hi. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif

I am looking for a Jazmine (very fragrant scent). I normally use Gold Canyon. How do these compare in burn time and scent and also price? I am looking for a 12-16oz jar. Do you come to Oakhurst http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/wink3.gif

do you ever make the grubby candles?..with a homey scent like cinammon or baked pie??...those sell really well in the mountain area..those are my favorites!

Pata, I have some scents that are very 'home cooking' in fragrance. The French Vanilla is yummy. I have some cinnamon in the ones I already made and a Pound Cake as well as pina colada and some other scents that are spicey or flowery. I will be getting other fragrances as I am able.
Nascar, I am not familiar with Gold Canyon candles, but if they are made of paraffin, these soy candles will probably burn quite a bit longer. Our little tea light candles burn for about 6 hours. All other tea lights I have ever used burn in 1 to 2 hours. I don't have jazmine scent yet, but I'm pretty sure it is available from my supplier. I will post when I get some like that. My prices are usually about $1.50 an ounce, depending on the container I use. I think my prices are very comparable to good candles out there. An added bonus is, the melted wax never gets hot, so you can scoop a small amount out of the candle and use it as moisterizer. It's soy, so it's very good for your skin. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif Also, spills clean up with soap and water!

Lacy, you should stop in and talk to the owner at pak & page, she is very interested in carrying soy candles, perhaps she could buy from you and sell them in the store, we have some candles now, but they are all food scents, she may like to sell from a local person. Just a thought

My fragrances right now are:
Pina Colada
Iced Cranberry (soft, fruity scent)
Almond Creme
Love Spell
Mocha Chino
Southern Butter Pecan
Pound Cake
Cinnamon
French Vanilla
Suoree (which is a strong flowery type scent)
Melon/cucumber (very mild)
And then I did a mixture of Vanilla, melon/cucumber, and cinnamon which is actually a nice fragrance.
My prices right now range from $5 to $45 depending on the container and the amount of soy used. I will probably be making some smaller, no frills candles for those wanting to try them for less to see how you like them.
I definitely can get gardenia and will be ordering some soon!!
We might also set up in Coarsegold on the weekends. We'll let you know.
Thanks for all your interest! You guys are great! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif

No problem! I'll let you know as soon as I get them done.
Also, we will give a free tea light to the OO people who come to Mariposa and visit our booth! While supplies last. That way you can try before you buy, if you like. We know you will love these candles. I won't have every fragrance available, but I'll have a fair assortment. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif

Oh yes, if I was to find the perfect glass/ceramic jar/color could you make me one in it? Or do you need special type of containers/glass?

Actually, you were the one being rude (unknowingly or otherwise) by marketing someone else's candles in the "Candles by Claudia" thread. If the thread had been titled something such as "where to find candles' or something like that then your post would have been completely appropriate. I understand sometimes threads go completely off topic, but this one is pretty straightforward...
Maybe your friend can come on & start her own thread with links to her site, or purchase a banner ad for her store so it would get viewed by hundreds a day...
Just a thought.

KK...we will be in Coarsegold hopefully by next weekend. I need to call the woman in charge down there and find out about setting up a booth where the indian teepee is. We are going to try to be there at least one of the two weekend days each week.
And yes, I can definitely make a candle in your container! They don't recommend using any kind of delicate glass, but any container that would be used in food preperation will work. I made one in a small wine glass and it burned just fine. What I did find out was, if the container is small, the glass will get really hot from the flame!! So I hesitate to use small containers that I am afraid might crack from the heat. But if the container is large enough for the flame to not be too close, the wax does not get hot enough to hurt anything.
I'll let you know when we get our weekend scheduled and you could bring your container there and take a whiff of all the fragrances and we'll make one up for you! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif

Since Bubbly has only posted a couple of times, I doubt she was trying to be rude. I think she was just trying to contribute to the thread and wasn't trying to step on anyone's toes. The response she got was somewhat rude I think. It would have been kinder for the person who responded to have said what you said DG, in a nice way, or else not to blast her on the board and just PM'd her with their thoughts on the "hijack". JMO

Ok I will be nice
Please keep your nose out of it she went on a thread that was about The candles that lacey makes and tryed to promote someone elses candles. Like Dodger said it is fine to do that but start her own thread not hitch a ride on this one.

And I'll "put my nose in it" if I think you were being rude to someone. I am entitled to state my opinion, whether you agree or not. Your response was rude.

I have to agree with Ironhorse here, While most of us know who Claudia is, And that you tocools (being her husband)were coming to her defense at someone posting another candles site, I think you have to have a little kindess with the people who are especially knew to the forums and may not understand that what they did would be seen as "hijacking" by you or someone else. I personally did not see it as that, But hey...I guess I have more of an open mind than some.
Peace!

HELLO PEOPLE...I am new here, I wasn't trying to step on anyone's toes, I just thought it would be a great idea for new candle makers to get to know one another and Lisa has been making candles in Coarsegold for 6 years and two more websites on top of that. I informed her of your forum and she was interested in adding her banner to the website, thank you for the information! have a nice day everyone!
