Indian Fair Days
The Sierra Mono Museum's Primary Fundraiser is the Annual Indian Fair Days.
This event is located at the North Fork Recreation Center, just east of town. Indians from across the United States come to perform traditional songs and dances in full regalia. There are demonstrations, like basket-making performed by local Monos.
There are also vendor booths which sell hand made jewelry, beadwork, baskets and other Native Crafts.
This event occurs the first weekend in August every year.

the rec center is at the end of 230 on this map...you should be able to get driving directions to North fork. depends on where you are coming from but from Fresno it is north 41 to Road 200 to North Fork. Go throught North Fork towards Mammoth Pool and rd 230 is on the left just past Malum Ridge Road

From Fresno, turn right on rd 200 and just keep following it. Don't sneeze as you enter North Fork - you'll miss it.
We do have the distinction of having a stop sign; though, it is pretty much past the town and its a three way, not a four way stop.
When you come to this intersection, keep going straight for less than a 1/4 mile and you'll see the rec center on your left.
From Oakhurst, make a right off of hwy 41 at the Mountain Ranch Restaurant towards Bass Lake. Follow that past "The Pines" another 4 or 5 miles till you come to our esteemed stop sign. Make a left, and again, go less than a 1/4 mile to the rec center.
I'm assuming there will be signs. Or ask anyone in North Fork where the rec center is. Anyone who's been here more than - say 3 days - will know.

Just a reminder that this event will happen NEXT WEEKEND - Aug 5'th & 6'th.
(Oh, and for the post directly above, I should have said "turn right at Mountain House Restaurant" not "Mountain Ranch." That would be road 222 toward Bass Lake.
