Well, it's about time Country Waffles goes thru the rating system like everyone else! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/wink3.gif
I rated them "good". I've only dined there twice. Once for lunch and once for breakfast. Overall, the food was good...only thing that didn't appeal to me was the side of canned fruit with my lunch. Did I ever say I can't get excited about canned food? Aside from that, everything was tasty and filling.
The service I've had there was attentive and friendly. The environment was clean and country cute. The prices were reasonable and met expectations for their type of venue.
I'll go there again...

"I'm Cactus Kate, self-appointed Mountain restaurant taster, er, critiquer. I like eatin' out and hate to cook, so you'll be seein' lots of these here critiques."
"Keep them cattle movin - I'm hungry!"
What happened to Cactus Kate? I sure like her style!

Maybe I should send her an email and ask her to post a few more reviews.

Definately. I think Cactus Kate gives a really well-rounded, not to mention entertaining, review of her restaurant experience.

Food was "ok" service was terrible. We complained to the manager upon leaving. Won't visit that establishment again.

I had a few bad experiences there at first, but then I gave them another chance. I find that the lunch is much better then the breakfast. I go there every once in awhile.

I have been eating breakfast at the Country Waffle since they opened here. Like the food and the service. I have actually been eating at country Waffle for about 25 years. People say that is impossible. Well Country Waffle Has been in busuness at least that long. Their home restaurant is in Paso Robles andd has been there for many years.

Here, here. I once waited 45 minutes for my food and they weren't even busy. The manager told me that he "wouldn't think of charging me" for my breakfast. I went back after that, mainly because the manager was so apologetic. The service was okay that time, but I like Pete's Place for breakfast...

I eat at Country Waffles...Way too often! I love their veggie omelet. so far I haven't really had a bad breakfast, but I've only been there for lunch twice, I'm not real fond of their lunch. The staff has always been friendly and on top of things. I haven't been in a few weeks, guess its time to get over there and get an omelet.

They've had some trouble holding on to their staff at Country Waffles. You could very well end up with all new servers and cooks each time you visit. I even heard a rumor that at one point the "suits" were in there cooking.

Oooooh, my curiosity is high. Hmmm. Who could it be? Is it you? http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/shocked.gif Maybe that's why Cactus Kate hasn't been around for awhile...she's spending too much time in the Silicon Valley. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/tongue.gif

My Mom heard the same thing...and of course the added speculation of what new restaurant will be taking it's place:D

I hope it's not true, even though I can't eat there often. I really enjoy their breakfasts, and so do my grandkids when they are up here and go with me. They'd rather go there than McDonalds, and for them, that's saying something.

Im related to several people who work at Country Waffles, and I havent heard anything about them closing down.
I'm glad to hear it. I hope they survive. Perhaps it was just one of those Oakhurst rumors.

Never really cared for Country Waffles... the few times I've gone there my coffee had one of those rainbows on top... couldn't drink it.
The last time I went there, a few months ago, they refunded 3 out of four of our breakfasts because of a major screw up in the kitchen, however, my daughter & her husband go there often and I haven't heard any complaints.

I need to give the staff of the country waffle house a big thumbs up and a huge thank you. I was driving into town on Fri. around noon. I became very very nauseas and thought to go have lunch being I havent ate yet. The kids and I ordered and I asked for some crackers to settle my stomache. I called my mom to see where she was going to be for lunch. I had a feeling I wasnt going to make it home. I also called a friend to see where she was and lucky me she was in town. While talking to her I began to break down. The staff was nice enough to watch my kids while I was in the bathroom trying to gain control of myself. When my friend arrived they made sure the kids finished thier lunch while my friend atteneded to me and called my doctor. I never touched my lunch well heck I never even saw it. They didnt charge me for it. I was taking to the Urgent Care for a few hours. I have a doc appt. Monday morning. We'll find out what happened.
I will also stop into the waffle house to thank them for what they did for me and the kids.

I stand corrected. They dropped the bomb on their employees yesterday. Country Waffles is closing and Diciccos is moving in. What a way to treat all those loyal employees.
I heard Oakas was looking into taking over the site.

not DiCiccos!! Please! I used to order from them all the time from work... but got tired of having to save my food from drowning in 2 inches of GREASE. And I LOVE Italian food.

They obviously didn't buy the existing "business", but the lease and all the equipment (silkflowers and all!) for $169,000, which is kinda high....and I'm sure they'll toss out all the feminine floral frou-frou.
I think I've known about this transaction/transition longer than the Country Waffle employees (3-4 weeks ago)...and that is wrong, in my opinion.

I don't understand why someone would open a breakfast/lunch restaurant in tourist town, especially when the was already one that was successful. Most of the locals I know usually only go out to breakfast on weekends and the tourists eat the free continental breakfast that all the hotels provide and the tourists are in Yosemite for the lunch hour. I feel bad for the employees of Country Waffles. While I didn't care for the decor, the people who work there have always been nice to me.

It's kinda sad when an employee learns on Yosemite Area Forums that they may lose their job. :( The owners should have told the employees.
