What months is it likely that snow chains are required to drive from Oakhurst to Yosemite Valley for a two real drive car? How is the driving conditions in the winter? Is there a bus that goes from Oakhurst to Yosemite Valley and is so how much does the bus company charge each way?

Hi Tim-

Welcome to the forums. There isn't a set 'legal' time for chain requirement. The weather is in control of that. Though, now through April it is wise to have them with you. There is some great information on the Yosemite Association website: http://www.yosemite.org/visitor/trip.html#trans

While we don't have public transportation into the park there are several companies like: http://www.yosemitetours.com/index.html that are willing to guide you...for a fee.

I hope that helps answer your questions.

If you are just going to Yosemite Valley and coming from San Jose I suggest you enter through Hwy 140. You will still be required to have chains in your car, but 140 is at a much lower elevation, so chances are less that you would have to chain up
