Second Annual OAF Camping Trip
Where? Probably Mammoth Pools again
When? Same weekend August 11th - 14th
Who? Open to everyone

Come for as many nights as you can. Go early and get a good spot if you want to. I may go up earlier in the week myself.

Earn karma! Bring friends and earn more karma. We got a few new forum members from the last trip.

Who is in? I know it's early, but better to plan now for those that need to request time off work. Mark your calendars now!!!

Excuse me for "butting" in (no pun intended), and this post also does not intend to put anyone in a defensive position, but I was just wondering if perhaps there might be some support for a spin-off or sub-forum, along the lines of a more adult-oriented format?

Perhaps I am mistaken to assume that comments pertaining to dancing naked around a campfire were anything more than just good-natured kidding. It wouldn't be the first time I have made a mistake, that's for sure! I was just kind of surprised to see it mentioned here, as I did not expect it.

I am sure that this is no "Burning Man Festival" LOL. I think it was all light hearted and done in the mood of the excitement for the trip. Even if they did sneak off for a midnight dance in the buff I am sure it be in a very secluded area and nowhere to offend any famlies or children. As when we're on Capt Newcomer's boat, what happened there, stays there... I think most was said in humor. I'm not gonna be running around naked, that's for sure. It is a family event. We had a lot of kids with us last year and all had fun. I suggest the kids have a bed time this year, however, so that adults can have some adult time later in the evening (after 10PM or so). It's a large camping area and there is plenty of room to spread out so that everyone can have their own family time at their own camp. Join the group camp when you want. We'd love to meet new members of the forums.

Can someone save me camping spot? I prolly wont be there til Saturday AM since no doggies are allowed like last yr..... my dogs will get right pissy if im gone for 4 days! They will still be in shock from me being gone 2 weeks in July!! Ill be car camping in the Sandman style.... sleeping in the back of my Subaru... so if anyone has place to hide coolers of food from bears.... mine will need a hiding spot cos I dont fancy waking up in the back of my car to a big ol bear helping himself to my steaks and diet pepsi.

Don't know why y'all keep saying it was wild. It was a nice family camping trip. We swam, cooked & had a lot of fun. Even looking thru the pictures from last year, I don't see a whole lotta wildness...

Some newer members joining us would be fun, so don't be scared by the comments on here. Stop by for a day or so & join the party. There will probably be a couple of jeeps at our site, too.

Most likely, I'll be leaving the Bay Area on Friday at about 6PM. This means that I will be there no earlier than 10PM... but probably closer to midnight. I'll be around all day on Saturday and Sunday. Then, I'll drive home Sunday evening.

I know you'll pick up insurance really quickly! Its easy... no worries - you just have to know what an aggregate, rail-road protective, and a 2010 1185 is!

More serious note: We just aren't sure when - definitely can't do the week (work)... but if Grace isn't bred yet, we need to be able to zip down to Madera Ranchos in a heartbeat to be there for it and to pick her up... we're up in the air! Sorry... will let you know more later!

I'll probably be going up there on Wednesday.. Thursday maybe. Pops and Dodgergirl are gonna try to call me to let me know where they are posted up. Then I'll post it here before I leave. If Verizon works there, I'l have Internet access on my laptop.

Last year our verizon phones only worked with weak signal on the road going to the boat ramp.

Cingular worked in the camp.

I'm watching a friends kids til Wed. I will be up Wed. afternoon.
I beleave Keca had cingular and hers was the only cell that worked. I have cingular. So when I get up there we'll call you Matt.

i have to work on wed thurs and friday nites.. so after sleeping most of the day sat... my arrival would be sat late or sunday for the day. Grrr to the work thing.
