This I stumbled into - was an interesting video about a man who got bit while backpacking in Yosemite - with just one fang and a "3" out of 10 severity bite, a man lost his ability to even use the finger that was bitten for the rest of his life - he didn't go immediately for help- thought he'd "sucked" the poison out...

Interesting - the Rangers called for a helicopter that took him to a Merced Hospital - they used all 20 viles of snake antivenom they had on stock... So then what? I'm surprised there isn't more antivenom around since we really do live in Rattlesnake country!

And... $65,000 later in medical bills...

All from a one-fang Rattlesnake bite.

I've never known any who has been bitten by a rattlesnake, but I do worry about them around our home... Gotta really be more careful - I often walk in thongs around the pasture, etc... probably pretty dumb of me!

HAHAHA!! When I lived out in the sticks in Arizona....boots and a gun were not optional but required to work in the yard. Gila Monsters and Rattle Snakes ICK! We would also get snakes in the pool. Haven't had that problem here though

I hear the cost for veternary anti-venin is $1000 a vial, so I can believe $65K for 20 human doses + treatment.

Oh yeah, that's why I got the rattlesnake vaccine for my dog. They say they still may require anti-venin, but probably less if at all.
