Road work @ 41 & 49 corner

Has CALtrans started ripping up the intersection at Hiway 41 and 49 yet?

Yep, they just started tonight - just came from there.

I didn't have any trouble getting through the intersection around 9:00 p.m. going south on the 41... but to make a right hand turn to the 49 was closed/blocked.

I wonder if 425B will be faster than the "controlled" traffic on busy Summer nights?

Just go slow and dodge those deer! There's not been a time I've driven 425B (even tonight cause I was going to try to avoid 41/49 construction coming into town) that I've not seen Deer! And where there's one, there's usually more!

I'm still mad and frazzled!

It's 6:30 pm and I'm heading to town to get home (coming from the north end) and I'm sitting through 6 green lights and traffic is not moving at all. I'm stuck in front of the Oakhurst Lodge. I've got a big ol' tour bus in front of me and I can't see nothing ahead. So I ask the guy's next to me what they see going on, and they say it looks like an accident. Hmm. So I work my way over to 426 and take 425B expecting I'll at least be moving and come in thru town from Deadwood (I've got 3 kids in the car!)...just when we pop out on Deadwood. Boom. Stopped traffic. And it just kept piling up behind us. Took 45 minutes to get to the 41/49 intersection because CalTrans had 41 closed down to a single lane...and 49 from the Vons center to 41, one single lane! This at least started at 6:30 pm, but probably sooner.

I was so raving mad when I finally saw an "innocent" CalTrans employee, I yelled at him, "Really Bad Timing!!!"

They should be doing this at midnight under the big lights...this is totally uncalled for. This is still tourist season as we approach Labor Day weekend and our days are still long. This is really bad for business. For our community. For people's daily life! This job they're doing tonight will probably be done by tomorrow morning (repaving)...but this is B.S. Not counting my added time travel hru 425B...I was in stopped traffic for an hour. Urgh.

Yeah & I was watching an unhappy baby at my daughters waiting for his mom to get back. A five minute drive to town took almost an hour... aagghhh

It's a good thing I could't log on last night cause I have never been so angry and fustrated I may have not deleted my numerous and prolific explatives. You would think, or not, that Caltrans would know of local events like "back to school night". Very poor planning. The flagger on 49 needs his training to be updated. My departure from town was preceded by an encounter with the most awful CHP officer I have ever encountered.

In the very corner a gas station is suppose to go in and on the other side an In and Out Burger. That is the rumor, but when who knows.
