I voted other for two reasons, one is that I like most everything except Rap and Opera...
I prefer Ambient, or Movie/Game Soundtrack music that is instrumental, and has little or no lyrics. My most favorite anti-stress music is Native American Flute music...

Cool! I like all music. I'll list bands I enjoy listening to the most...
Beastie Boys, Bob Marley, CCR, Dr. Dre, James Brown, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Les Claypool in any band he plays with, Metallica, Nirvana, NOFX, OutKast, Ozzy, Pink Floyd, Primus, Rage Against the Machine, Santana, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Sublime, The Beatles, The Doors, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Rolling Stones, The Specials, Phish, Tool, and many more...
Whenever I'm with my Dad, I listen to Jazz and Blues like Howlin' Wolf, Professor Longhair, BB King, Clapton, etc... I love it! I enjoy live blues bands in small places.

TOT, I like Type O Negative. I have 2 of their CD's. My oldest son liked 'em back in high school, so I started listening to them then.
I posted in another post, my musical tastes vary, ranging from Enya to Godsmack. I have divergent, ecclectic tastes. It would be really hard to make a list, cuz I'd leave somebody out, and suddenly remember in the middle of the night! LOL
I like John Cougar Mellencamp, Oasis, the White Stripes, Mark Cohn, Staind, Natalie Merchant, Aerosmith, Metallica, Phil Collins, Clapton...I could go on and on, but you get the idea.
By the way, I saw a film at the Tower Theater last week called Lightning in a Bottle. It's a history of the blues. They had a great scene in it, where Jimi Hendrix is in the audience, grooving to Buddy Guy. wowsers! *huge grin*

Oh goody, my favorite topic! There are so many outstanding songwriters and musicians--many of the best I've known have never recorded and do not seek fame--they play for the sheer joy of playing and because it is the very soul of who they are. But, among those who have actually put out CD's, these are the ones I could take to a desert island, play repeatedly, and still be amazed by:
Tim O'Brien
Darrel Scott
Alice Stuart
Tom Russell
Cheryl Wheeler
John Trudell
Equation
Railroad Earth
Charlie Musselwhite
Steve Earle
Patty Lovelace
Seldom Scene
Blue Highway
Sam Bush

Thought my friend was gonna get me beat up during her set, though. I never cared much for "What's Going On" (although I liked it when she sang it that day) and Melly knew that, and when she started playing it, M leaned over and whispered loudly, "isn't this the song you hated?".
