This sounds good for a day like today, if nothing else, after the shot of whiskey, you wouldn't care as much that it's wet, cold and damp. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/laugh.gif
"Drowned Coffee"
Per person
1 small scoop vanilla or caramel ice cream
1 serving espresso or strong coffee
1 shot of whiskey (Canadian whiskey, not Scotch whiskey)
Whipped cream
Put your scoop of ice cream in a large coffee cup. Mugs would work well too. Top it off with the espresso or coffee to just about fill the coffee cup. (Instead of making individual servings of espresso, just brew espresso ground coffee in regular coffee maker. Works great and takes a lot less time. For this kind of a drink you don't need to fuss over an espresso maker if you don't have the time or the inclination.) Put in your shot of whiskey and top with whipped cream. No need to stir. You can serve it with a spoon if you'd like. The ice cream will melt right into the coffee so you're good to go either way.

Iron, that sounds good! What is the difference between Canadian and Scotch Whiskey? What is a good brand?

I don't know what the difference is or what a good brand is. It's all the same to me because I hardly ever drink it.

Canadian Whiskey is smooth, Scotch tastes like sweat socks...
BUT, Jack Daniels is the best!

MMMMMMM...sounds really good. I was just thinking about yummy drinks today. I haven't had Bailey's in a while. I used to have triple Bailey's shots on the rocks with my co-worker in Vegas after a big dinner. White Russians are really good too. I guess it's time to splurge http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/yes.gif

I must be allergic to whiskey. Back in the dark ages, when I was a teen, I took a SIP of whiskey at my sister's house. I got violently ill and to this day, I cannot even tolerate the smell of whiskey. I get nauseated immediately, even after all these decades.
I know there is a psychological association with the odor ... my psych teacher covered the subject in class a couple of years ago, but it's interesting how powerful that association can be, and how permanent.
Does anybody else have certain foods or drinks that affect them this way? Sorry, this has nothing to do, really, with the coffee.

Yes, the smell of fruit trees burning makes me sick. My mother smoked heroin (before moving on to shooting up) and the smell of fruit trees burning smells like heroin to me.
Sorry, that doesn't have much to do with food, but it is a smell that I detest. I also hate the smell of crab (at least that is food). Lately, I don't particularly like the smell of coffee.

I know what you mean - had the same experience with daquiries and any rum drink now. And that was 30 yrs. ago! Also I could never ever (and still cannot) stand the smell of beer. Also, was never able to drink it. Tough cuz some of my best friends and hubby are beer drinkers. I just stay a little distance between them during social hour! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif
