Hitching Post Restaurant, Ahwahnee

Well my family and I were trying to find a good place to watch the superbowl and Roundtable has no tv now and we didn't want to watch it on a small tv in the other pizza places. So my husband suggested to head out to the 19th Hole.
Well let me tell you we will NEVER go there again.
The lady who was behind the bar who took orders and drinks was so rude and just lazy...My husband went to order and she acted like he were a pain. then she had not mini pizza's for my two boys and that was a pain she didn't have the prices right when talking to my husband..we had to pay more instead of saying since we don't have anymore mini's I will charge you the same and give you a reg cheese pizza.. didn't want to be nice on bit.. that really makes me mad... then she rudely told my younger daughter if she wants refills to bring there cup to her and was rude.. god life sucks that bad she needs to not work. the tables were so nasty and didn't clean them until before we left which was at the 2 min warning on the game. Oh and it took fricken FOREVER to get our food too....

Sadly I have to agree with you Michelle. That place has gone straight downhill for the past year. Food and service are terrible. I don't know what the owner is thinking.

That's a bummer. When we have gone in there for lunch the food is always really good and the people seemed okay (not overly friendly, just okay). Guess it's been a while since we've been there!

Hell, I treat the Chinese turists who step in front of the line at Raley's better than the way I was served at the Hole.

I've always liked the 19th hole. We go there to play darts & shoot pool while enjoying a fair lunch. The counter people (I think he might have a medical hearing issue) are not very quick, polite or tactful. They are usually friendly, though. I've noticed a lot of places up here don't clean their tables as customers leave, they apparently like to do at one time when everyone is done...??? I personally do not enjoy viewing the remnants of someone else's meal while trying to enjoy my own.

We go to the Hitching Post with some regularity. Ive never once noticed a sanitary issue, but that could be that I choose to go when things are slow and theres not a lot of people around. We have had a couple issues with the staff there too. They like to tease my husband for having extreme finicky taste in his food. But once you get to know them they are really great people. Id say its one of the last true local hangouts.

I agree with Cali. I am truly sorry you and your family had such a bad experience. I love their linguisa and eggs. But then again, I don't usually go there to just eat. More often than not I don't eat while I am therehttp://oakhurstonline.com/icon/lol.gif

It is one of my favorite places to stop and us the restroom when on my way home from Merced. The bathroom has always been amazingly clean.

I heard from the staff yesterday that the Hitching Post now has a new owner. I am sure there will be some changes in the works. I did not meet the new owner and his name escapes me right now, but he is a local man!!! Hopefully everyone will give him a month or two to get things the way he likes them and then try the restaurant again!

The place had been for sale for years...for a price.....a big price. Several of my friends have checked into over the years and it was always out of reach.

I agree about the real chairs too!!

Just got back from having Breakfast. I am thrilled that A) they are open on Monday's again and B) I didn't have to order breakfast type food. Burgers etc are available anytime. Service was nice and fast too!!
