I went in the day she opened and looked at the menu, which also included dinners (so, why 6 till 2?) the next day she was closed?
Several people told me the same thing.Anyone know what happened?

Wish I knew. I posted what I saw in print; not what I knew to be true.

Went there yesterday - they opened on Thursday the 24th... they are a breakfast/lunch only restaurant open til 2:00 p.m.

They were busy - almost every seat taken.

They remodeled the place and its now light and brite! and Patio seating if you want it.

Let's just say I am going to give them a 2nd chance to make a first impression and leave it at that.

The food that went by to all the other tables looked mouth-watering good! Perfectly toasted brown bread on the sandwiches. Crispy perfect golden HUGE onion rings... I was anticipating a great meal.

But, my turkey open-face didn't work out so well. (very long time to serve, cold upon arrival, Extra EXTRA salty! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif )

We just happened to be the one table forgotton about and didn't get the same attention as the others.

They gave us our meal on the house (which I did not eat anyways) and we will go back and try them again in a couple weeks.

I'm helping to paint our dance studio and today Tina took us to lunch. On Tues. the cafe here is closed so we headed up to the Grizzley Bear. The food was excellent for everyone. However; it took awhile to get it cause it was busy and there is only one waitress (the tall one that used to work at Alofonso's) I don't know how many were back there cooking but seems like we all entered around the same time.

Therefore it took awhile to get our food.

When we walked out there wasn't a table left.

They have done alot to the place, it's cozy and seems alot bigger.

perhaps we should do a "2nd tuesday of the month" lunch there soon? (after the opening day rush that is).

Coarsegold needs some new life added to their restaurant linup.. cos Im getting tired of the back up breakie at Goldfields.... even if it is an awesome breakie.

Paws up to the new Grizzley Cafe! (for spelling purists like I am, the spelling reflects the owner's name)

We will be moving to Coarsegold as soon as our new house is ready, and try to shop local as much as we can. Although the cafe is hard to find at night, in the dark (set back off the Hwy near the teepees) because there is no sign on the highway, I remembered stopping by for a look-see and menu during the Peddles' Faire.

The service was quick, friendly, and the food arrived in record time. My husband ordered the chef's salad, which arrived in a basin with enough salad for 2 more meals! Even the wrapped cracker selection was excellent.

My entree came with soup (not the usual small cup, but a portion of clam chowder almost the size of a full cereal bowl).

Food was good, well-prepared, and reasonably priced. We'll certainly be back, and wish them well.

The soup was a little salty. Wish all chefs would hold back on the salt. It's not good for those with high blood pressure and certainly takes away from the taste of food. Salt-lovers can always add it. We have had the experience of not being able to eat a restaurant meal because it was loaded with salt.

What was your entree Lee? Did you notice if the BBQ beef sandwich was on the menu? Also, I wonder if the cook is the same one from the old Grizzley? We loved going there. Definitely have to try it out soon.

I purposefully didn't mention my entree so as not to gross anyone out - but I really LOVE liver 'n onions! (I guess you could say that if that tasted good, everything else would too)

and yes, my eyes popped out at the size of those burger plates headed out to the patio. It was warm enough to eat outside, even at 8pm on Sat

Liver and onions (with a little bacon http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/eusa_dance.gif) is delicious!!!!!!! (Okay, so I'm weird too, LOL)

Nope, not weird, I love liver and onions, and wont cook it at home and not many places serve it.

I used to love to go to Farnesi's Restaurant in Madera and order it there. It was always sooooo good, and you could get it with both the onion and bacon. Most places only give you one or the other. It's so hard to find liver to cook at home sometimes.

Mdaadughter and I went for lunch one afternoon. I ordered chicken fried steak and eggs. YUMMY!!!! It wasn't fried and the gravy was homemade. (or so I was told) I could cut the steak with afork. It was deeeelicious. The eggs were perfect. I did not find the food overly salty but I guess it all depends on what you order.
My daughter is 3. She always gets a cheeseburger. They brought it to her plain. Al the things kids don't like were on the side, just in case. I liked that. You don't get that at Mc Donalds or any other fast food place. We don't go to fast food very often but I always thought it was silly that they put picles and mustard on a kids burger.

I went today and had lunch. Wasn't too impressed. They forgot the cheese on my cheeseburger, the side of mayo for my friend and the fries were undercooked. It was just after the breakfast rush, so maybe they were playing catch up. It seemed that the server was a little stressed. The burger was pretty good though and I will probably try it again one more time in a few weeks. The prices were definately a plus, very reasonable.

Tried it out last week. The place was LOADED! Went in right before noon. Looked like they need some help - one waitress, one server. Every seat was taken - with people waiting outside. Food took awhile but well worth the wait! We had the BBQ beef sandwich with onion rings. Just as fab as I remembered from the old place! Definitely a place I'll go back to. The sandwich was delish but you better like onions - lots of them in there. The onion rings were thick and delish also. They also have home made pies. Breakfast menu is extensive.

Went to the Grizzley Bear restaurant today. The food was ok. The service was horrible. The older lady was really cranky. She did not bring out half of our drinks until after the meal came. When we asked her about them she said rudely "Iknow I know". She bad mouthed costumers after they left. She was complaining about the costumers that kept coming in and that she had deliveries coming that day. I will never go back to this restaurant again.

I've been going to the grizzley since they reopened last summer. The food has always been excellent. Service is usually very good but understandable when thier busy, just like any other restaurant in our area.
You should call and speak to the owners about the service. We realize everyone has a bad day, but don't take it out on paying customers.
