OK, Here is my "Best Burger" review broken into 2 categories
Rating on a 1-10 scale (10 being highest)
Best Mountain Burger - The Forks (Bass Lake)
I would have to say that the Forks had a pretty good burger for the area, but I was expecting a bit more after all the raving I had heard. My expectations were built way high! I was expecting a big FAT juicy like home-made patty with a big THICK beef steak tomato slice (Mibrew you remember St. James Imfirmary in the bay area burger madness nights, those were great burgers) but it came to me as a regular looking run-of-the-mill burger. It was good in taste and the bun was very good lightly toasted and held together well while eating it. As for the price it was a tad too high for the size & type burger that it was. Fries and drinks had to be bought separately which brought the bill for the single cheeseburger & fries and drink to $7-8 range. The atmosphere at the Forks was very freindly and fun and the waitresses were very nice.

Best Mountain burger for your buck - Texaco Station (Coarsegold)
I would have to say that I was let in on a little known best burger value by my neighbor. Its the Texaco station at the 41 and 417 by the Casino in Coarsegold. Here you can get a fresh grilled burger, A large filling of either Mojo Potato fries or normal fries and a refillable drink all for the low price of $3.89 Mon - Thur from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM only. Of course the ambience is not that of the Forks but the burger closely compares to the Forks' burger and the fries are great also and the meal leaves you full. If you are in the area near lunch time I would say for the price, give it a try. It has the feel of a cheap truck stop if you don't mind that kind of thing.

I like the above places and would recommend them to anyone. Look for further burger updates later... next stop: The new burger and biker place on 41 (where Legends used to be)... and other stops I'll be making in my mountain burger adventure.

The Forks didn't have their meal deal? Forks Burger, fries and salad? Anyway...I love The Forks burger on sour dough...there is nothing up here that even comes close...

Yes it did have the meal deal which was about $7.49 but I don't think that included the drink which was like another $1.50 on top of that. I did not say I didn't like it I just said that my expectations were set high by all the hype I had heard.
Nothing tops a Home made Burger on your own grill as far as I am concerned.
