Helllo everyone,
I was wondering if anyone had ever received any
assistance from the Manna House. I.E. clothing or food etc..

It was brought to my attention by a few people in need of such things, that they felt they were
treated unfairly and that they were not given blankets and coats, even though the facility had them to give.

I have a coat drive every year and I donate half to them and the other to the women's shelter. I also make quite a few personal donation throughout the year and helped pack food boxes one year for christmas.

I would be greatly disappointed to discover that local people in need were not be treated fairly and with the respect every human deserve no matter their situation in life.

If anyone has had any experiance with this please let me know. I want to make sure what I do have to give is being recieved by those in need.

Thank you
Hi-Tec, store manager, Jule Ignagni

Jule, I have sent people to Manna House & have had not had any negative experiences relayed to me. I have a few families I help regularly & Manna house is one of their main support systems. I do know a couple group homes go there every year in Sept or Oct to receive coats for their children.
I do know Manna House needs to check ID's & only lets people receive help (with food) once a month, while I believe they can go in the clothing & houseware sections whenever they need.
If you ever have a surplus, contact me, as I said before, I have a few families in need on a continual basis.
thanks
mary (you know me as your daughters teacher)

I have went to the manna house years ago. When I first moved up here and times were really hard and they have helped. Food was never a problem but like was stated before it is once a month deal. But I have even had to break down and ask for help for christmas years ago. They used to help with propane and PG&E but from what i can remember they don't do that anymore.. But I haven't heard of anyone being treated unfairly.

Dodgergirl do you take clothes too and I have jackets I do not use anymore or the kids. If they can go to a family that needs clothes let me know.. I have some stuff from clothes to jackets and maybe some toys.. anyways let me know if I can help in that department I would love to help. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif

I really hope this is not true about Manna House. I have supported them with food and clothing all year long since I've moved up here. Can someone please clarify this for us?

Several years ago i had to go to them when we were really low on funds. I only went once but they were very kind to me and my kids and gave me a big box of food and a couple teddy bears for the kids. I am not sure how they are now, but i think they were great back then. This was probably about 6 or 7 years ago.
