I hope that if there really is an Italian deli coming in, it will have the cool and unusual stuff I used to see in delis when I was growing up. I love this one certain sausage called biroldo. I could only get it at Sam's Italian Deli and Grocery in Fresno, but I think the family that owned the business sold it a few years ago, so no telling what's in there now.

Seems to me there'd be a conflict of interest with Round Table...Italian subs and sandwiches? IF I were RTP, I'd be against that.

Yes, you're right, but Von's sells sandwiches, too. And, a deli has so much more to offer than just sandwiches. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/yes.gif

That does sound good. I was hoping for a Bagel shop like Western or Noah's. Bagel sandwiches are so good! And fresh bagels with cream cheese for breakfast with coffee is da'bomb!

I think a bagel shop would be good in that spot too. My nieces have all worked for the Western Bagel shop in Thousand Oaks...love them fresh baked bagels.
Regarding conflict of interest...supermarkets have everything from video rentals, cleaners, liquor, bakery, floral, banking, pharmacy etc...but far and wide they are a grocery store with complimentary departments of which none they count on as heavily as their grocery goods. It's the specialty shops and businesses that attract a special customer looking for specific goods that need to protect themselves from like businesses setting up shop right next door or in their commercial complex. I would wonder if RTP has such a clause in their contract protecting them from businesses selling like products. Maybe they don't care about their sandwich biz as it's more of an accessory to their main biz which is pizza...but if a potential Italian deli has a pizza bar or take 'n bake pizza or a dining area serving these offerings...that would be a sure conflict and negligent of the property manager. Commercial business planners and managers should think a long the lines of businesses that would compliment each other, not fight with each other.
Anyway...I do really like the meatball sandwiches at Pizza factory. I'm a big meatball sandwich fan myself.

That would be wonderful, my family is italian and we grew up with fresh italian cold cuts...I would watch my grandmother make her own pasta and fresh sauces with all fresh picked ingredients...yum...
other businesses I would like to see up here:
A REAL Bakery!!
A Jewish Delicatessan!!
IN & OUT BURGER
A REAL Bookstore...Barnes & Noble!!
Linens & Things or a Bed & Bath

Yeah, something like Sam's Deli in Fresno would be cool. I used to go there for lunch when I lived there. Very Italian. Used to go to Piemonte's too. But I must be a dreamer to think anything like those will ever come to Oakhurst.

*CatdaBrat tents her fingers like Montgomery Burns at the discovery of somebody else who knows about Sam's*
Hmmm... I didn't know about Piemonte's, though. What and where is that?

I always try to stop at Sams when I'm in Fresno. (Messy that was the place which was closed when we went to see Larry)

Piemonte's was in the Tower District on Olive. Been there forever. I'm 47, used to go there with my mom when I was a little kid. The place to go for sandwiches, and Itailian deli stuff. Smaller than Sam's deli. Hope it's still there. I only go to Fresno when I have to. All my friends down there are mad at me. They say I'm a recluse. Now that I think about it, I haven't been down since the Stones concert. Wow!

I heard a rumor today that counters the Italian deli rumor....
I got word that a Chinese take-out place will be going in the Braun's location. I heard that it's the former owners of Oka who'll be operating this business.

Great, so that's 3 Chinese restaurants in town. Can't someone come up with something new? How about Thai or something like that?

Yeah, Thai would be good. Or how 'bout Mongolian BBQ? A different twist...and yummy-er than standard Chinese.
Oh well, what can you do? What's done is done...what's in the plans is in the plans.

OK, so it's not an Italian Deli. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/sad3.gif It's a "Tropical" Asian food take out. Wow! We sure need an Asian food place, http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/duh.gif Why didn't I think of opening one??
Honestly, I hope they have a decent menu, and if they do, I'll be a regular. Providing they do not use MSG.
So, Mr. Man, would your first name be Rice?? http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/xxrotflmao.gif http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/xxrotflmao.gif http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/xxrotflmao.gif http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/xxrotflmao.gif http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/xxrotflmao.gif http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/xxrotflmao.gif
