So, since I'm thinking about restaurants ... what happened to Crystal Falls? The sign has been down for a while, but I thought it might be a seasonal closing. Now there's a for sale sign, it seems.

Since returning from the mountain where I hit the motherload I was thinking of buying that place up and turning it into a fancy scmancy dining facility and calling it "Panning for grub" What do ya think?
I got message of the closing of this place late last year by one of my courier falcons...

As long as you don't tack on a fixed 18% tip, you might have something there.

I have only known a few people who went to that place for dinner and they said for the money it cost, they were disappointed. I just take one look at that steep driveway and think it's a good thing they did that before the county adopted stricter grade percentages. I also think that being in such close proximity to Mountain House is a disadvantage to Crystal Falls, because Mountain House is probably more attractive to travelers, locals, etc.

We went by there shortly before they closed down - what a magical location - just beautiful with the waterfalls, stream, trees - a real gem... But never got to eat there - we went to make a reservation - the wha lah - gone...
To me it looks like a modern type building going in - maybe someone's future home? If I had the money, I would have loved to live there!

No kidding! I have eaten there a couple of times. The food was lousy but the location was amazing!

A Dairyman from the Valley bought it and yes, he is turning it into a private residence. He is also building a fully loaded art studio for his wife.....or so the rumor goeshttp://oakhurstonline.com/icon/lol.gif

It looks like they tore down the house and kept the restaurant. In place of the house, there is a big concrete, 2 story ugly structure. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/confused.gif

Now what the heck would that be - a parking structure? Wonder what they're thinking of doing with that place?
