I tried Three Sisters for the first time a few weeks ago. I had breakfast there. They were very busy at the time. I loved it. The food was so good. It's nice to have a place like that up here. It reminded me of being in a San Francisco restaurant or something. I'll go back.

I love Three Sisters. The atmosphere is funky, like a cafe in Europe. The food is far beyond anything in the Mountain Area. It gives this area a bit of class. Reinhild is a great hostess; she works very hard.

...except when they put fish on my daughter's salad instead of grilled chicken. Causes a bad reaction for her, luckily she only took a small bite.
We had to reorder & they "graciously" offered to remove the charges form the first salad off of my bill.
I've gone back, but am extra careful to specify what I am ordering, and what I'm not.

This is a top notch A-1 place! I agree with Goddesschyld - its very European. Everything I have ever tried is wonderful. I specially like the chicken walnut crepes. These guys better never leave Oakhurst! http://oakhurstforums.com/icon/happy.gif

We've only been once, because it is a tough place to bring the kids. We liked it, but didn't love it. The atmosphere: good. Food: very good, but certainly different (for us at least). Service: Poor, at least the night we were there.

I went for lunch yesterday and it was very good. This is one of the best restaurants we have up here, IMO.

I saw an "Under New Management" sign last weekend; I knew that the place was for sale and am glad that Glenn and Reinhild found a suitable buyer (http://www.threesisterscafe.com/about.htm).
Has anyone been since the changeover?

My family took me to the Three Sisters for Mother's Day breakfast. I had always liked it in the past but had not gone since the ownership change. The waitress that we had was so RUDE!!!! I asked if the omlette that I requested was still cooked the same and she snapped by saying that everything is better than before.
We all ordered our food and when the food came, my two year old did not get her meal. The waitress then asked what she wanted, I again told her scrambled eggs and sausage. When she brought out the fried eggs and bacon, I said that I was very sorry to send the food back but the order was wrong. This woman said to me "Well, I asked what you wanted and you said bacon." Oh my gosh, seriously? When she came back, the plate had sausage and still had the damn fried eggs. I didn't say anything else because by the time the poor kid got served her meal we had already been there over an hour. I ended up in the car with the toddler without eating because she became a basket case from being there for so long. My husband boxed up all the food and we left.
Also, while we were there, this same waitress, when asked by a father of a girl at a different table if she had crayons for the kids, was told in a very pissy assed tone, "No, we do not have crayons! This is not an establishment for chilren!" Now, I know that Three Sisters is not a place that one usually takes children, but it was Mother's Day. Mother's like to be with their children on Mother's Day right? She was not the only waitress there, and there were only four tables occupied, so I wondere why she was so short with everyone.
My question to all of you is if you have been there sinse the ownership change and what kind of service you recieved.

I've heard some other complaints, too bad, I heard the people who bought it are wonderful, I would have a talk with them about their waitress, it seems unreasonable. Glad I didn't go there, It was a toss up.

I am sorry to hear you had such a bummer of a time on Mother's Day. At first, I had thought maybe the server was bummed for having to work on Mother's Day and maybe was a little sad about missing out on her families festivities...but then I realized I waited tables on Mother's Day and it is the servers job to make sure ALL the Mom's have a special day.
Typically, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day are the busiest days of the year. A server...well a good server knows this and comes to work mentally and physically prepared. Meaning well rested, no hangover, favorite comfy shoes, and a good attitude is the only way to survive these two holiday's in the restaurant business

tocools...I luv ya to pieces man, but I'm not sure what you are saying when you say you're having a hard time "buying into" this? Can you explain? If someone has a bad experience somewhere and they post about it, I don't see where buying into it would come into play, unless you suggesting that they lied. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/confused.gif
I hope I'm way off base.

I haven't yet been to the restaurant since it changed owners, so I can't comment on what it's like now, but I just wanted to say that I really miss the way it used to be back before the business even moved from its previous location. I didn't care for it after the move ... the former ambiance was missing, I thought, unless the times I went were just "off" nights. Just seemed a little too "flute-snoot" for me. New image, I guess?
One time everything on my plate was extremely oversalted, which was just weird. That's when I gave up and lived off old, fonder memories of 3 Sisters.

I remember one time when I ate there that I had a strange experince. My food came out so bland that I asked the waitress for some salt for the meal and she said our food does not need any salt but if you insist I can get you some. Also on that same visit I noticed that they had some of those new fangled electric pepper grinders on the tables. I used it and it worked great for about 3 seconds and went dead. I was very suprised when the bill came to the table, I looked it over and I noticed that I was charged for a salt and battery. LMAO

Ive only been there once, and the service was slow, then I remembered... hey, this place is fashioned to be a european bistro, and the attitude in euro bistros is SLOW. (Just try sitting at an outdoor cafe in Gibraltar and taking a table on the outside edge.. you wait FOREVER). But still, the rudeness of the waitress should NOT be tolerated.

I do not expect anyone to "buy into" anything. When you "check it out more", make sure you know which waitress I am talking about. Not the gal, Anna. She has worked for Oka and Castillos. She was quite pleasant from what I could see. It was an older lady. The only other waitress there. I was there at 10:30 a.m.5 people in my party. That ought to give you enough information to investigate so you can make sure I'm not lying.

I had a similar bad experience with that waitress. We had just purchased a bunch of coupons to support the high school art program and one of the coupons was for Three Sisters. I thought "hey, they are supporting the arts and we haven't been there since the owner change, let's try it!". So we went down for lunch with this tiny 2" by 1/2" coupon. As we sat down, the 'waitress' immediately spied the coupon and said 'oh that's expired, sorry we don't accept those'. Bewildered, I said "really, I just bought this yesterday." She immediately grabs the coupon and says 'see it expired in 2007!' Hey, lady, it's 2006! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif She replied "Oh ok, but we don't normally accept them." She was very rude and instead of graciously accepting a measly $5 off, she lost hundreds of dollars of potential meals...maybe even a $1000 over a year or two. Whoops. Also, when I have a discount or coupon, I usually pass on more in the tip...another whoops. At this point she had turned a very faithful customer into hating Three Sisters.
At least the food was still up to par (very good)...but they have to get rid of that waitress, otherwise, in small town like Oakhurst, the business will go down in flames. I don't really want to go back until they get rid of that waitress, and my posting this is a testament to my insulting experience.
Someone needs to print out this thread and give it to the owner to save Three Sisters.

My wife and I went a couple of times when we moved here two years ago. We didn't care for the attitude of the previous owner (she was rude, rude and more rude) and gave up after a couple of attempts. Was too bad because the food was great. Now we keep hearing bad things about the service under the new ownership and haven't ventured back. Perhaps we should give it another chance??

I've had lunch there twice recently. The food was great and the servie was great. I never ate there when the previous owners had it, so don't know about that. I plan to go back. I consider it to be one of the best restaurants in our area.

I've eaten at Three Sisters a couple dozen times, mostly when the previous owners were in charge, but several more times since the new owners took over. The food was excellent under the previous owners, it is now good to very good. The service was pleasantly quirky under the previous owners, now it borders on unpleasantly quirky. The prices have been consistently reasonable for the quality of food. The food service under both owners has been timely, but it is not unusual to wait 30 mins. or more to get the bill after your meal is done. My concerns about the current ownership are that they are diluting the previously, deliciously rich sauces; that the service is less customer oriented and that they play annoying and loud Muzak, which, even when asked, they won't turn down. (I like to converse with my meal companions, I don't like to listen to music that the restaurant owners think is "good" music.)
