Michelle Kwan wipes a tear during a news conference today in Italy.
Michelle Kwan's decade-long quest for Olympic gold came to a sorrowful end today when she withdrew because of an injury, taking the biggest name out of the Turin Games. Kwan cut short her first practice of the games the day before after straining a groin muscle, and the injury worsened as the day wore on. Emily Hughes was chosen by the U.S. Olympic Committee as Kwan's replacement.

It is a bummer about Kwan. I did get to see:

American champions Rena Inoue and John Baldwin landed the first throw triple Axel in international skating one month after hitting the first one in U.S. nationals.

Blew me away and was surprised to see them in 6th place.
