SIerra Art Trails - Artist Submission deadline is May 1st, 2005!!!
"Our mission is to support working artists and artisans by promoting their work, to foster the visual arts in our area, and to benefit our communities by establishing a reputation for the area as an arts destination.â€Â
Hello Artists and Artisans,
This is a reminder that the Sierra Art Trails 2006 Application Deadline is May 1st, 2006. Many thanks to all of you who have applied! If you have not sent in your application, we sincerely hope that you will join the show again this year.
If you have participated in past years you have probably noticed that the deadline is quite a bit earlier. Sorry if we caught you by surprise! The earlier deadline allows us to complete the catalog sooner, and to promote the show longer before it arrives in October.
If you are running a few days late don't despair! Williams Gallery West will accept hand-delivered applications until 5 PM on Friday, May 5th. Come on by if you want to drop off your application. If you cannot get to the gallery, and know a planning committee member, you can hand it off to them for delivery.
If you want to apply, but for some reason you are unable to get your application in on time, please call or email to let us know.
Thanks very much for your attention, Jon Bock, Sierra Art Trials, www.sierraarttrails.org (http://www.sierraarttrails.org)

Getting ready for it. Framing and matting all weekend long. The things I do for love.
Next week I'll be mowing the lawn and setting up the pop-up tents and walls.
But its fun to see everyone come by.
This year YosemiteWolf is also at our place showing her work too.

SheilaMae - Does DramaQueen have any photography work she's done this past year she wants to display at our place?
Just wondering if you two will be coming over to "hang out"?

I'd love to 'hang out' Sunday...gotta work Saturday. Maybe I might even have a quilt to stitch on while there. Rachel is available both days for ya. She's gonna check her stuff to see if she has anything she might deem worthy....got a nice shot of a tarantula this evening. LOL She's pretty intimidated at the idea of showing anything but thrilled you asked.

KK being too lazy to login again... That's what the arts are about - sharing one's work, viewpoints and captured magic with the world! I hope she'll at least bring a couple shots to share with me personally if she's not ready to share with the World yet!

Right on our little DramaQueen! Those are really good. Good composition, good exposure, good subject matter, good portrait!
I especially liked the soccer game (a telephoto lens wouldn't help there because you were looking for a different angle and framing device). That's why I liked it - because you were experimenting and looking for something different that noone else has done before.
And I liked your San Francisco streets for its social statement and photojournalistic quality.
So glad you are enjoying the camera - looks like its working fine for you!

I must have over 50 framed works from 8x10, 11x14, to 16x20 sized frames and probably more than 50 5x7, 8x12, 11x14 sized shots matted for 8x10, 11x14, 16x20 frames with protective plastic on them.
And we're still going! But this way, I'll have them ready for future art and Peddlers Fairs - I think I'm finally going to get a booth in 2007 and show/sell my work that way too!

the soccer game pic was great... i also dont think a telephoto lens would help.. i just thought a portrait lens woulda have framed the san fran pic nicely.. but her pics are really good!!!
Just read that we have a 30 percent chance of rain sat morning! but should sun up and be nice. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif
I dont have nearly as many pics as you KK... but Im just starting..... http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif But I think Ive framed and matted some good ones! already sold one and the show hasnt even started yet.

Come on out on the Art Trails today, Saturday and tomorrow, Sunday, the 14th and 15th!
There are over 117 artists in the Oakhurst and surrounding areas (North Fork, Mariposa, Ahwahnee, Coarsegold, YLP) who've spent numerous hours this past week (and probably month) getting prepared to open their homes, studios and galleries to show you their work and talk with you about their art and inspirations!
You can grab a catalog with a map of where all the artists are located (and it also contains a sample of their work and contact information in the catalog) at the Stellar Gallery in Oakhurst at Gallery Row (Sierra Art Trails Home Central and where each artist right now currently has one actual piece of their work on display (to give you an idea of their style and what you'll find at their location).
The catalogs are $12 each and admit 2 people on the trail.
The monies raised from the Sierra Art Trails goes towards giving sponsorships to young artists and encouraging all ages in art!
Hope to see you this weekend!

What a great day - had lots of visitors today - way more than last year! And almost every couple or group who came today took a piece home with them! WOW!!! Didn't expect that!
But have lots of pieces left and have printed a couple tonite for some that were purchased, but now rather than issue #1 its #2... or #4 its now #5...
Wolfie had fun showing her African shots - she has a couple absolutely amazing hippo, lion, and hyena shots - I mean REALLY good!!!
Come on by to see them.
My work is all over the board - landscapes, florals, macros, places, things, animals, anything that captured my interest and inspired me enough to grab my camera!
We had quite a few people from Fresno, Sanger, Clovis, Madera, Turlock, LA, Coarsegold, Oakhurst today... Fun to meet them all!

The Art Trails were terrific - soooooooooo much to see!! I envy those who saw it all! Went for a few hours with Messy on Sunday and every stop we made was a treat for the eyes and, for me, a major nudge to be amongst the exhibitors next time (though when you're exhibiting you don't get to see all the others' work too). It's great to see where art is made...the environment each artist who exhibits from their own space is surrounded by - what feeds them creatively. We have such variety, both in product and environs, here amongst us...upscale, folky and rustic, delicate and fine, primitive and refined.
Got back to KK and Newcomer's right about closing time and found we'd missed monkey and BGW but hey, monkey ----thanks for leaving the wine!! Was some verrrrrrry good wine!
Anybody got any spare poster frames???????
