View Full Version : Mariposa Shopping Trip & Lunch - July 16th... Neighbors helping Neighbors...

How about Sunday, July 16th?

Meet in Oakhurst - Von's parking lot? By the bank/post office end there is lots of parking not used on weekends - say around 9:00 - head to Mariposa (caravan, ride-share?) Stop by Pony's (Whoopsy Daisy's) for a nice coffee or other drink.

Then shop a bit, have a nice lunch and shop more or head back early.

What do you all think?

Where is a good place for lunch?

I'd love to, but gotta work. The Red Fox has good lunches as does the Yosemite Bug Hostel in Midpines. I hear they may have to close soon due to low business and I have heard good things about them. The owner has even put his home on the market to try and sell it to keep his business, but no one is buying. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/sad3.gif

Sounds good to me. We ate at Red Fox a long time ago, and weren't real impressed, but I'm good for another try.

I think there are somewhat new owners there. When I lived in Midpines, it was awful. A couple of weeks ago I had a stir fry lunch there that was excellent.

We're still planning to go this Sunday - who else will be coming along? Want to make sure when we hit the western end of the Vons Parking lot (by the post office), we don't leave anyone out by accident who may be running late...

Epic's leaving town for a couple of days early Sunday afternoon, so I think I'll stay home and remind him why he misses me when he's gone.

It was just fine! A pretty day actually... and made better by a nice Mocha Frappucino from Whoopsydaisy's Pony Expresso shop!

And the stores were well air conditioned!

Had fun - got to get some stuff we needed, some stuff we didn't need and a good lunch at the Miner's Restaurant.

Then we got the personal tour of Mariposa from our local tour guides and their perspective of growing up in the area - Pops and Surfus - and also went by the Courthouse also and took the free tour.

Almost got to see a red Jeep Wrangler up close and personal on Harris Cut-off Road... but Surf did a very nice fishtail and avoided it.

You missed out! I wish you, and Dodge and Pata and Monkey and Rima and Kim and... could have made it!

I happened to be in when the first half of the group showed up, had to make a Costco run so I didn't see the rest. They actually caught Bill doing the windows! Ha! They were filthy! I'm glad you guys stopped by and liked the drinks. I'll look forward to maybe seeing you guys if you do it again and thanks again, for spending
