Some of you out here know that I have been working on a hand made clay sculpture over the past 6 weeks and wanted to see it. I made this out of a 20lb block of clay. Well here it is. It has not been fired in the Kiln yet and still needs some finish detail. I am planning on having leaded glass for the windows and I have made some metal railings to go around the house. It stands 14" tall and is about 14" in length. It was sculptured after the Portland Head Lighthouse in Maine. After it get's fired I can then paint it. It will also be wired for a light.

That is very nice work. It's going to look really cool, especially with the glass and the light installed. I know somebody who is crazy about lighthouses and if I could, I would buy that person a real one.

Would you consider doing a consignment piece of the Inn/restaurant?

I'd always love to meet at Lucy's, but I will be in San Francisco this week for the gift show. Maybe the following week sometime...

Thanks AJ. It was a real challenge for me since I had not worked with clay in the last 20 years. Took me much longer than normal due to my hands not being what they used to be. I did not even want to attempt this project because of the fear of not being able to do it since I got Kennedys Disease but KK encouraged me to try. The first 2 weeks I almost gave up on it because I have high expectations from myself and it was not going as I planned but I kept going and am glad I did.

Very nice, Newcomer! You're very talented.

You should post updated photos of it's progress up to the final product. No pressure or anything...take your time.

Thats cool Newcomer, I got to see that in person, and heard about the cracking, hopefully you were able to correct it after a refire, but great job, can't wait to see it painted.
