I love Sentinal Dome at night. When you can hear the waterfall and reach for the stars.
Sentinal Dome is one of my fav. places in the park. It's kind of a hidden secret being everyone passes it on the way to Glacier Point.

The drive from the valley to Mono Lake is one of my favorites...some of the spots along there are the most awesome in the park. (that one can see from any kind of transportation) I think the Panoramic Trail is great too.

Devil's Elbow on the Merced (is this where you go Monkey?)...it's a great sandy beach spot with huge boulder islands below and between El Capitan and The Three Brothers (that's what those trio of peaks are called, right?). In recent years, the meadow area near there has been fenced off for restoration purposes. So if you park roadside near Devil's Elbow , you gotta detour a bit on foot to get there...but I love how it's not crowded there unlike the river at the other end of the valley. People can't get there by shuttle...or wouldn't necessarily walk there from their accomodations. Ya gotta know about it to want to go there, I think. The water is perfect for swimming (in July!)...could stay there all day long! Todd used to always go there with his family when he was a kid too.

Every time I visit a new place in the Park it becomes my fav place. So far Glacier Point is my very favorite place. We are soooo lucky to have this beautiful spectacular place right here in our own backyard. To me its the closest thing to heaven on earth.

I like hiking up to Chief Mountain. There is a lake and a old boy scout camp up there.

I love the Mist Trail too. As I'm sure many know, the hike up to the Emerald Pool is pretty hard on the legs, even for us fit types...it is one hike you can take kids along since it is relatively short. A couple years ago, my 4-yr old son (at the time) was practically running ahead of us...while his slighhtly older brother and sister were starting to drag their feet and complaining "are we there yet?"....Anyway, it's one hike that's definately got a reward at the end. Especially on a hot July day.
