Back in the 70's a comedian I enjoyed, Gallagher, used to do a bit on why the English language is so hard to learn...I particularly liked his specific illustrations of how CONFUSING definitively opposite words are that mean the same thing in use such as 'fat chance/slim chance' - how a bald man can be nicknamed 'Curly'. Well reading something here this morning caused me to realize another one for the list - "Smart A@$/Dumb A@$

What IS The Definition Of A Friend?
Goddesschyyld
Dec 13, 2005, 07:49 AM
Per dictionary.com:
Friend -
A person whom one knows, likes, and trusts.
A person whom one knows; an acquaintance.
A person with whom one is allied in a struggle or cause; a comrade.
One who supports, sympathizes with, or patronizes a group, cause, or movement: friends of the clean air movement.

I was in Fresno yesterday, and I saw this VERY small child, one, maybe two years old, standing on a corner. There was a car in the way, so I couldnt see the childs parents standing there with him. The whole scene looked so absurd to me, and I remembered a part of a Dave Chapelle act, "Hey BABY, What you doing out here on the corner???"

I think Boston Baked Beans candy are made from the floor sweepings of factories where they roast peanuts. The rejects (probably the burnt ones) are just tossed on the floor, and when they accumulate, they are coated with a sugar glaze and utilized for that awful product!
But what do I know? As a kid I used to sneak the bottle of cod liver oil out of the fridge and gulp spoonfuls. There were pink and white frosted animal crackers to sneak, but those were usually second choice. I am sure some people around my age remember parents giving them doses of cod liver oil.
Maybe what's wrong with me now has to do with a mercury OD as a kid!
