I wish I could have seen the Rascal Flatts concert. Unfortunately, two young women stood up in front of me for almost the entire show.
They seemed to enjoy the show, so I assume it was good.
Instead, my gaze drifted over the crowd. And this caused me to wonder, and to try to understand. Because, if one had seen such a large group of religious folks acting in the same manner, one would likely say, "Whoa! these people are Jesus freaking fanatics!"
Yet, there was a great deal of - what can only be described as - worship going on. You know, standing, holding one's arms skyward, waving back and forth, shouting and screaming when one of the singers said, "Fresno wwei gfan soine ie!" (no one could actually make out what was said, except for the word Fresno, but that was enough).
The thing is, I'm not sure what they were worshipping - - the music? the band? the event? themselves? Perhaps a combination of the above.
