Either or. Let's set a date soon. Like MiBrew says-Sundays are tough for us "out of towners" but Hey Brew-do like I do-start your commute about 5:00AM Monday morning, drive the Pacheco Pass with the other nutso's who moved to Los Banos, drag your sorry *** past the receptionist mumbling inane excuses, curl up in your cubicle for a short nap, then show up for your noon lunch meeting smelling like Bass Lake!
Extra karma point's should be awarded to those of us who sacrifice our sanity to be mountain folk- if only for for a few days a month. Now that's love!

I feel sorry for ya Patty, I would not want to commute on Monday mornings, I start work at 6:00 in Mountain View, right next to Google, I work From 5:00-2:00 on Fridays to get an early start if I decide to go to Oakhurst.
What your best time from Bay Area to Bass Lake?
and which way do you go?
I used to take 152, 99, 145, 41 now I take 152, 99, 20 1/2, 415, 41
Mibrew
Aug 12, 2004, 03:32 AM
Patty,
Also do you avoid that Hollistor He_ _?
156 meets 152 and those Bozo's that stop where there is no stop, and it can back up to 101.

Hell-Oh-Cop-ter. Not a bad idea! Can we land in your parking lot Surfus? Maybe we Bay Area cronies can go in on a private choppper(as soon as our stock options rise above what we originally bought them for) http://oakhurstforums.com/icon/disappointed.gif
But for the record-I've been lurking this site long enough to have picked up MiBrew's secret back roads to Oakhurst. (Frasier Lake Rd-and 20 1/2 through Raymond) My best driving time in a Subaru Legacy=3 hrs 10 min-lawrence Expwy/101 to Vons-Oakhuurst. But now that it's been brought up-who's got the record? This could be a new thread!!!

Hey Kahlua-I could use some more Partylite candles. My local Partylite connection moved away and I'd love to meet ya and talk about mountain gardening (and candles) I need more of those tea candles and I bet my sister in law in Mariposa would like to come too. Ok maybe I'm being pushy but can I come to your party? Get in touch-then I can plan ahead...

Hey.....
if you are going the back ways ...... come up Robertsvile road through Chowchilla ... then out Daulton road to road 600 .....fun road to ride....almost a roller coaster
Kahlua Kid
Aug 14, 2004, 04:33 AM
I love that "Rollercoaster!" The first time I took that shortcut to Chowchilla I had no idea and when I came upon that I was happily surprized!
Jimi
Aug 14, 2004, 05:21 AM
yep .... so instead of going all the way to 99 on 152 you go north on Robertsville road... you then get to do a bit of winding up the hills.... but is faster then going most other ways... then through Raymond to Coarsegold... or in front of the dam to road 400 and to YLP ....

Here is the fastest way, I think http://oakhurstforums.com/icon/wink2.gif
From Teaford, take 420 (Thornberry Rd) over to Coarsegold. From Coarsegold, take 415 to Raymond. From Raymond, continue on the same road to Chowchilla. You will take the roller coaster road that everyone was talking about. There are a few turns (right, then left, then right again, then left, etc.) but the turns are pretty well marked if you are looking for the signs.

I think I could make it on the 25th.
The first weekend of Sept. is my B-Day and I am taking a vacation week... may go out of town. The following week I will be in New Orleans spending time with my Grandmother (Dad's Mom). She lives in Palm Springs, but got free hotel stay and my family is buying a plane ticket for me for a Bday present.
So, the end of Sept is best for me. http://oakhurstforums.com/icon/wink2.gif Yes, 25 karma points will be awarded for those that participate in this event.

Perhaps you should start a new poll with the two dates. I'd say 1PM or so would be best, then people can stay however long they want to.... but 3 would be good also.
