I like Jack Black...I think he's funny and good at acting. "School of Rock" and "Orange County"...both had my attention from beginning to end.

Bad actors = Bad movies...I agree on Steven Segal (he's a really bad actor). Also that blonde actress who was in American Pie and also used to date Carson Daly...what's her name? She's really bad at acting...and that comedian guy in Deuce Bigelo. Bad.

Stephen Segal is a good martial artist... he lost it when he went into movies. (as did Chuck Norris) I grew up in OC. so def dont get off on the OC show... OC was THE place before holly wood found it.

"Orange County" is a film/movie that was in theaters about 4-5 yrs ago...a comedy starring Jack Black and a few other well-knowns and cameo appearances by some big names too.. It's a really funny movie...I liked it very much anyway. Go rent the DVD if you want some good laughs! It's not related in any way to those OC shows on TV. I'm from OC too.

I was going to say I couldn't think of anybody who by themselves kills a movie then I saw Newcomers post. Dolph Lundgren comes to mind also.

I think a lot of the action stars are not very good at acting then again they don't usually have very complex characters to work with. Can you imagine Richard Gere in Die Hard he turned it down before they gave it to Bruce Willis.

I really think casting and directors have the biggest effect. Steve Martin might be the perfect example. He's been in some great movies and others that were just pitiful.

Not going to give the obvious retort.

Going to ask instead if you have ever seen ANY of his films? Roger and Me, Bowling for Columbine?

Contempt prior to... ahhh forget it.

I guess it all comes down to what we each like in a movie. I personally love Keanu Reeves (with the exception of Speed), and Christina Applegate. Jack Black comes off to me as completely retarded, but thats probably because I heard his music before I saw his acting.

I just rented Thumbsucker. Anyone seen it? Keanu Reeves is in it.

Looks good to me.

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure anyone? hahahaha.

Madonna was good in Evita.

I seem to have misplaced my quotations.

We recently saw Thumbsucker. It was a pretty good drama. Different. One thing that stayed with me, Keanu Reeve's character said, "We're all just scared little animals."

I don't care for Segal movies, either, and it really doesn't have anything to do with his acting ability -- it's just that he tries to use his fame to influence people on issues that he doesn't always completely understand.

I don't like to watch any movie that ends with the actor stepping up for an emotional political or environmental speech, especially when he or she doesn't have the facts straight. You can always take a few true statements and present them in such a way that it supports your own views/opinions, all the while leaving out many other facts that do not support those views.

All Segal has going for him is his fame -- and to me, that doesn't automatically make him an expert on anything except on how to influence others to think and feel as he does. Ted Danson (he looks like a skull head) is the same way, with his stupid soap-box speeches.

fffftttttt .... give me PeeWee Herman any day!

Harrison Ford. Star Wars lovers, don't throw stones...I'll amend that to H.F. post 1983.

Steven Segal is a great martial artist.. but it ends there. I was busting up laughing in one of his movies where he was in a coma for 7 yrs.. and suddenly woke up cos some sexy pseudo nurse held a fluffy kitten to his face... Segal bout leaped outta bed and did a whole series of katas.... HELL! Hed been in a coma for 7 yrs.. you dont just jump outta bed doing the Katas.

As for a actor that signals a crappy movie.. that would be Ben Afflick. If I never see one of his moves again it will be too soon!

Yeah, but he sure is purdy to look at http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/wink3.gif
What the heck is a Kata, anyway?

yeah.. he is pretty to look at, but like we used to say about the Fresno State guys (when i was at Cal Poly ).... "More content, less clothes"....meaning most these guys we met up with were airheads... much like Segal.

A Kata is a move in karate... much like in ballet you have your "positions" in karate you have your "katas".
