For those of you who have been involved in the threads regarding Mariposa and our "economic troubles" due to the landslide on 140 and have talked of helping here is your chance. At the last Merchants meeting the prospect of bringing our Farmers Market down from the park and into the downtown area came up. It has progressed over the past few weeks and is coming to fruition next week, along with a weekly "Street Fair" every Wednesday night from 5 to 8. I'm sure it will have a growing process but we have to start somewhere, right? The Market will be on the corner of Seventh and Bullion with street vendors set up along Seventh, between 140 and Bullion. If you are a vendor and would like to rent a space (We Need You!) it is $10 per space and you can contact Dell Knell at 209-742-5522. Tell her I sent you. Our Board of Supervisors has given us a generous check and it will be used for advertising in the Fresno area as well as the Merced side. There is talk of getting some local car clubs out there to display their automobiles in the future as well as some other fun stuff. We'll have music in the Art Park on Wednesdays and I myself am trying to hook up with a local musician to play on my deck outside for a couple hours on Wednesdays, too. I am on the corner of 7th and 140. My shop, The Pony Expresso, will be open late with music going, River Rock Cafe will have a BBQ dinner going as well as other activities. We need a varity of vendors and we need people to stick with it and not give up after 2 weeks. I know it is a haul to come over here for some and gas prices are high but if you want to help this is where we need it. Also, if you are not a vendor/artist or interested in selling just come up and wander around for the evening. Maybe do your organic shopping and then have a dinner out over here? My husband and I have agreed to go out to dinner once a week for the summer just to help our community. That may not be a big deal for some but we NEVER go out, lol, so for us it is ;0) I am going to post this under a few different sections as I want to be sure all see it. I hope this isn't against any forum rules and to all who participate in ANY way, thank you and by all means come to the Pony and introduce yourself when you come!

Cool idea! Will soy candles count as organic? I don't have enough candles ready to fill a booth yet, but I will be calling for info.

Tocools says you don't have to buy anything from them, but I say you should. Lacey and Tocools brought me a gift...a prototype of the candles they are making now. My vanilla is to die for! Burns slow and for what seems like forever.
I know there have been a few of you that have had the glass candle holder or jar crack or shatter due to heat. One of the things that is so wonderful about soy candles is that they don't burn hot!
I am a happy happy girl with my candle and it came from one of the first attempts. I can only imagine they are that much more delicious smelling now!

With these hot temperatures, we didn't go to Mariposa today. Went last week and thought I was gonna die. Next week TC will be performing, so I won't have my candles there then, either. But we should be back the following week.
I now have fragrances Jasmine, Gardenia, Baby Powder, and Airburst. Hopefully I will have a fragrance for every taste and will be adding fragrances as I go.
We are waiting for this heat wave to get past us before we go to Coarsegold for the weekend. We'll try to keep you posted where we are so you can find us. Especially when the Christmas season gets closer. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif

Well, the 1st bridge is open as of Monday. The opportunity to get thru is very limited but it is great for those who live in Mariposa and work in the Park 9-5. One shot thru in the early am and then as many as can get thru from 6-7:30 in the evenings.
I hope some of you can get down tomorrow night for the street fair, with the cooling weather it will be full of vendors and should be very enjoyable. There will be great BBQ dinner going on behind my place, at The River Rock Cafe, also. Hope to see some of you http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/clown.gif

I really wish I could sell candles this week. I know it will be a good week to be there! But TC is singing at the Art Park and I need to run his music. I'll be back next week, though!!!
After the market is finished, come down and jam with us!!! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif

Ok you guys! The weather is really nice and the Farmer's Market is still in full swing, so come on over and see us! We have designed a new display table and I'm excited to see how my candles look on it. We have some ionic lights you might want to check out. Come by and say hi! It will be a nice evening out. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif

Just got home from Mariposa. Had a good time. Bought white peaches and nectarines yum! But better yet....I bought the Southern Butter Pecan Soy Candle from Lacey! I don't think I will even have to light the wick!! It is dreamy just sitting here next to me!
We also went to the China Station for dinner. I hadn't been there in 20+ years. We were impressed except for no fortune cookies!! I was a good customer....I swear! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/laugh.gif
All in all, had a great time...I am so glad I remember the Farmer's Market.
