Narnia?

I think Ive heard about every argument possible about the C.S. Lewis books lately. Ive heard that a lot of churches strongly back up The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe. Ive heard that even with its obvious religious undertones its still *evil* fantasy. Ive heard that King Kong was a much better movie (Have to say I kinda agree with that one). What do you guys think?

I've seen both. I liked both, so did the kids. You can't compare the two movies because thier so different.

If you want to see "evil" in Narnia thats up to you. I didn't.

I first read the Narnia books in 1975, and heard the same pro and anti arguments back then while discussing them.
The more thinking churches will encourage children and adults to read them because they open the mind to spiritual possibilities. They loosly allow children to understand the most important aspect of Chritianity, that of Jesus' death and ressurection for the redemption of mankind.
The anti argument comes from those who believe that spiritual thought without christian dogma is as bad or worse than reading scripture from something other than a Black Leather Bound King James Bible.

As far as the movie goes...I haven't seen it. But I've had the Narnia book series on my bookshelf since 1974. If I lose it or loan it, I get another.

Narnia evil? oh give me a bloody break! its based on christianity which is one reason I shuddered at reading it first.. but like any book... one can read it and take from it what they will. Back when Harry Potter came out... the conservative right tried their best to have the books banned.... to no avail! Harry Potter survived and became more popular than ever. So is Lord of The Rings evil too? I suppose we should consider King Kong bad cos we are taking advantage of a large primate.

I have read the books and owns several of them and I loved the movie.
My fav book was the "horse and his boy"

I think I was more asking OP . But thats ok I think the movie was very well done. I also Very much like the Harry Potter and Lord of the rings movies. I Liked Narnia that I decide to start reading the books. Now to find the time to sit down and read them.
