I would love to be more active in the planning and organizing this time. Also, I'd like to purchase a large item (like a TV) for a raffle.
I think an 80's party would be fun.

Ya know Keith, I don't remember the 80's either. What happened to us? Were we abducted by aliens during that time? Carnivale was great - I would like to help this time. Count me in.

I think we should keep it annually to the same time frame - what do you think? It was just as things around town were starting to kick off too - so we need to get the other events coming up dates to plan around them for an "open" Saturday night when we don't have a competing event again.
I would think we'd want to start holding planning meetings again around September/October?

I voted tropical. I want to wear a grass skirt and coconut shells on my boobs http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/cool4.gif

I like the 80's idea.. I will have to hairspray my hair for the first time in 10+ years. Put a wave in it or crimp it or something.. got some 80's clothes too... big belts, earrings etc.
That would be cool.

Mmm 80's... that means we'd all have to be high on cocaine.... or we could do 70s and just take a lot of valium. LOL. Im for tropical. Maybe we can write to Kenny Chesney and get him to be auctioned off for a date with one lucky lady http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif. Woo hoo.. Kenny in jeans, flipflops, cowboy hat and no shirt http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif.

Discooo Boy,
Ya better run to the bathroom and comb your hair!!( Frank Zappa )
I can get the Elks building and have it again.

Theme 1975 to 1985 covers everything in fades and music. From bell bottoms and platform shoes to ragged levis with patches and beads.
Music - Earth , Wind and Fire to AC/DC
Disco, heavy metal, motown, pop, country...
Or Rocky Horror Picture Show Theme...Muuhhhhh
Whatever lets have a party...

We should start planning again soon -
Keith, I think the Elks was a great place to hold it and we should check into available dates in March 2006...
We also need to start doing our homework to make sure we aren't overlapping with other "major" attractions/events that will be taking place in March 2006. We will want to draw as many people as we can... and if they are heading out to XYZ Auction or ABC Boat Show, they won't be at OF Party -
Can those who want to be on the committee meet on Saturday October 15th late afternoon/evening? Should we do like last time and have our first "committee" meeting at Round Table Pizza in Oakhurst. From there we can get everyone's names, numbers, etc... and then can hold at homes, wherever, whatever we are comfortable enough with once we meet everyone on the committee.

I can be there, I just need a time as soon as you can get one, so I don't plan anything else for that time.
I look forward to working with you all again!

Wow. A committee? OK. Pick a time and a place and if anyone who wants to be there can't, they should suggest an alternate...
Maybe a 'committee first meeting date' thread.
May I suggest 2 or 3ish on a Sunday?

Later in afternoon on October 15th sounds good to me, KK. Are we targeting March as a date cuz it was when we did it this year??? We used that then cuz it was kinda close to the actual dates of the theme in part. If we're talkin' 80's - March 25th is the 84th day of 2006, btw...and on the March dates of usual recurring annual events in the phone books I don't see anything significantly distracting.

Yes, actually, my counter wasn't working good and I couldnt figure out how to fix it, so its gone.
Yes, March 11th, we decided to just go to the beach that weekend and get married rather than having a wedding and then the next week we will be gone on our honeymoon, then when we get back, I hope to have a party and celebrate with all my wonderful friends.

KK,
http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/laugh.gif I actually still have a couple of jumbo sized cans floating around. I use it to get ink out of my work shirts now though!!
Cali,
I, for sentimental reasons, just (like last week) packed away the last remaining pair of wrangler's that I have been wearing since I was 15 yrs. old. Scary. Of course, the jump and pull (how I got into my jeans back then) belt loop is busted and hanging on by a thread; and they are about to start a Dwight Yoakam side to side shred down both legs. Which, in high school would have been way cool.....given that my 20 yr reunion has come and gone.....probably not as cool now!!!http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/xxrotflmao.gif I hated packing them away....I was still wearing them!!
Maybe they can be brought out of retirement for an 80's party. I bet a coating of that super mega hold aqua net hairspray would preserve them for just one more day http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/doh.gif that stuff is good for just about anything from preserving dried flowers to killing scorpians! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/bonk.gif

Sounds Good. I need to figure out who was missed for the banner advertising from last year. I think 1 or 2 still need some banner exposure. The others got way more banner space than we told them they would get.
We will, once again, offer banner space. I would like each business to give a value for the item donated. They will get that value in services from Oakhurst Online. They can use it towards banner space on Oakhurst Forums and/or web services at Oakhurst Online.
All members of the OAG get a free lifetime membership to the forums. If anyone that helped out last year doesn't have a lifetime membership yet, let me know and I'll upgrade you. I appreciate the help in raising money to keep this site alive.
Money raised goes towards hosting and avertising costs for the website and forums, plus I would like to get a large banner to hang at Oakhurst Forums gatherings.... plus we can put it on a boat on the lake on the fourth of July. We should all get a party barge together and advertise the site with a banner on each side. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif Maybe we could get a flag also. Perhaps we should do a logo contest and have a new logo for the banners.
