Somewhere between good and great. Beers are usually very cold, drinks mixed well. Bartenders, although frequently overworked, are pretty damn attentive. Its not high society, but neither am I.
I'm comfortable there. They do need to change that jukebox. Since they can't get new 45s to play on it.

I agree with Coldwolf. I like the staff there, the price is right and they mix drinks well. It's not the nicest builing in town and the music selection isn't all that great. I play pool in there a few nights a week.

As long as you take a translator and tour guide...Nah j/k. I use to hang out there all the time. Would go by myself and that is something a female doesn't tend to do unless very comfortable with the bar.

Licorice Pizza, the corner of Blackstone and Shaw, back when anything north of Shaw was Pinedale.

well, i'm glad the computer ate my previous reply going on and on about how i'm comfortable at the oakroom and it's spiffy, yadda yadda yaddda.
..... wanna share this to ya'll as a warning.
i gave the bartender my ATM/VISA card to just keep my tab on, it's easier that way. got a few drinks throughout the night. went to close my tab and they couldn't find my card. not only could they not find my card they kept handing me a card that belonged to some guy named Benjamin asking if that was me. um, no. i am not ben.
so they lost my card and really didn't care. the bartender says i never gave it to her. i could go on, but what's the point?
here's the warning - i mentioned this to one of the other bartenders. they lost my card. he says "it happens" ?!?!?
apparently it's a little hobby of theirs.
sorry, when it comes to business incompetence http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/rant420.gif i'm not a happy camper.
off to work!

The Oakroom is not large - you tell me how they could "lose" your card... something rotten in Denmark there...

my guess is that Ben whatshisname has your card. If this happened recently, I would check back with them in case the Ben guy has been back in to trade cards. If he was a tourist though......
And as to how they ran out of Jack Daniels.....the owners do not, I repeat, do not ever order liquior in preparation of busy weekends such as weekends with bands. The bartenders get no say so in ordering either.

I know that this made you angry TOT, but don't let it change your opinion of the O.R. Accidents happen. It's happened to me at bars before. At least you got free drinks out of the deal. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/lol.gif Cancel the card, order a new one.

Like i said last night, maybe i'll just go if Val's there. anywhoo... so yeah, i cancelled the card. so i'm without money. and if i go out tonight i have to borrow money from my father. cuz that's cool. yeah.
my biggest problem with this is that it happens enough for it to be somewhat common. that's just not right.

this is the only time it's happened to me. it has happened to others at the OR. i don't know if the "once a month" was a realistic figure or an exaggeration.
