Bush Addresses Heated Immigration Debate
AP - 1 hour, 28 minutes ago
WASHINGTON - President Bush, bracing for more street protests and a Senate showdown on immigration reform, called Saturday for legislation that does not force America to choose between being a welcoming society and a lawful one. "America is a nation of immigrants, and we're also a nation of laws," Bush said in his weekly radio address about the emotional immigration issue that has driven a wedge in his party. Bush sides with business leaders who want legislation to let some immigrants stay in the country and work for a set period of time.

Arn't there enough Americans out of work. Why do we need to let immigrants work here?
Again the "Big" businesses running the country.

Bringing back something like the Bracero Program wouldn't be so bad, provided they limit the numbers allowed in. Bush says this is a country of laws, but his administration has failed to enforce immigration laws. It used to be that local authorities worked in conjunction with Immigration and did sweeps to round up the illegals, years ago the government stopped that, and now even Immigration can barely go after the illegals. The "laws" we have need to first be enforced, send the illegals home, then address the issue of letting some back in, LEGALLY. As far as the issue of illegals having babies here, and the babies automatically being citizens of this country, that needs to stop, right now! If mom and dad aren't citizens, the children shouldn't be either. JMO
