I have never had a bad time at Crab Cakes, the service is great and the food is even better than that. The only downfall of Crab Cakes is that they can be too crowded at times when I want to eat. How can you go wrong with that?

I agree full heartedly. I love Crab Cakes. The owner and staff are so professional. I tell everyone about them that I can. I wish them all the best.

It's a casual sit down place with great food!
I love the cioppino there. They have fried, sauteed and grilled seafood and a couple of steaks for the non fish eaters. Try it. it's YUMMY!

When i go in I usually tell them what i want, and they prepare it. I usually concoct a salad out of what sounds good at the moment & do the same with some pasta. they're really accomodating & the food is great.

We've been pleased with their service - the owner is there and oversees everything - I think that is why its so good!

Newcomer likes the food. I'm not a seafood person - so I tried the chicken... I think I'll have to try the steak next time. Not to be a party pooper, but didn't care for the chicken - sorry!

But again the service was excellent - felt very welcomed there!

When I go there I always have the seafood. Usually the crabcakes. They are delicious and the desserts are the best in town.

The food is pretty good but they need to do something about the parking.

Crab Cakes is easily the best eatery in Oakhurst, hands down. Fresh, excellent food. Service is always good, the owner Roman, is there 26 hrs. a day. Sweet Dreams deserts are some of the best deserts you can buy anywhere. Laura is Roman's wife and she runs Sweet Dreams, together, the best place in Oakhurst to eat.

I agree. It is one of the best restaurants I know of, in Oakhurst, or anywhere.

The Blackened Salmon is so good, and reasonably priced, that I've never ordered anything else.
Only one time it was a bit too spicy for my taste.
Service is best in town I've seen, but I havn't been to Erna's...

I'm not quite sure why there are so many enthusiastic reviews of this restaurant. It is OK, but not great. The atmosphere is very cold. I've been to Crab Cakes more than a dozen times (sometimes against my wishes) and I've never been there when some member of my party didn't have some major complaint. My complaint is that I have a hard time finding something on the menu that I want to eat. There are many items that seem interesting, however, they always seem to include one or more unpleasant ingredients.

The owners are really nice and of course, the desserts are great. I haven't eaten there more than 4 or 5 times ... my favorite thing is the Cobb salad. The actual crab cakes were OK, but I like mine better! I don't know if they still do it or not, but I did not like the chopped tomatoes placed on top of many of the menu items.

Something I noticed, that is not related to the food or the service, is that several times when I'd been there, diners' chairs had fallen over when they went to stand up! I guess the design is a bit tipsy?

I've eaten at Crab Cakes more times than one could count. Always been happy with the service and the food. Often it's just me with the kids...and they love the magna-doodles and the fishing game, and the pick-a-toy from the treasure chest aspects. I've often had their Grandma's Crab Cakes...like you Catdabrat, mine are bigger and better...but Crab Cake's crab cakes are still good. And I L-O-V-E their desserts. No matter how full from the meal, gotta have dessert. I wish they were open on Sundays, because that's a day I like to go out to dinner. But MTN House will suffice...they've much improved since their new ownership took over some months back.

I have lived here for over three years and have never been to Crab Cakes. Maybe our next OOF luncheon could be there? Leafie, do they have a kids menu?

Yes, they do have a kid's menu. My kids have enjoyed the food there...even the blanched green beans which accompany their meals. Don't ever see that at other restaurants. Very kid-friendly, family-friendly and adult-friendly restaurant which is something you and I can appreciate.

HINT: Don't hang your jacket or purse on the back of the chairs. If you do, be sure to grab them before rising from the table. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/yes.gif
