Two things, worthy of passing on, are going on with STI right now.

1. when trying to log on to check your junk mail you are redirected to a "Change Password" page. I emailed STI as to why this is in place. The reply:

As you noticed, our Junk Mail Message Center has been asking you to change your password. Please do not attempt to do this. We are working as quickly as we can to correct this situation and we thank you for your patience.

We at STI strive to make your Internet experience as comfortable as possible. Thank you for bringing this situation to our attention so that we may continue to provide the level of service you have come to expect from us.

1A> STI has also posted the following notice at the top of their home page:

Important Postini Junkmail Filter Notice!
Your Postini junkmail message center will be temporarily unavailable due to technical difficulties. Technicians are aware of the problem and are working to resolve it.

2. The monthly STI newsletter also contained a *WARNING*

Important Warning! - Infected Email Alert

Please be advised that a new virus is hitting STI's email server with a vengeance. We are actively working to block these emails before they wind up in your in-box. However, you may have already received one or more emails purporting to be from a technical support group like "Support Team Robot" or "Abuse Team." The subject of the emails may be something like "Worm Alert," "Dream of You," "Worm Detected," "Virus Alert," or "Trojan Detected!"

The email implies that a robot has detected a problem, and threatens to block your ability to send email if you don't follow the included instructions. There is usually a zip file attached.

Do not open the attachment. Delete the email immediately. Empty your Deleted Items folder just to be on the safe side.

STI does have a program in place for blocking infected Internet connections, known as Limited Access. However, when we invoke Limited Access on an account, there is no warning beforehand. We block your infected account first, and then let you know via an email. We never send you an email with an attachment claiming to fix the problem.

We continually implement the latest in filtering technology, and we apologize for any inconvenience this nefarious virus may cause. This is just another good reason for you to always keep an updated antivirus program on your computer. However, please remember no filter can ever be 100% accurate and always be suspicious of attachments you were not expecting.

I got the email from the "robot" that "detected" a virus on my puter.... It was sooooo weak and pathetic. I deleted it straight away.

Once again, STI is showing its awesomeness in protecting its customers from viruses and worms. If this happened at Comcast they would be like "so.... and thats a problem?"
