How do you know that Yosemite high has one hour delay?

I didn't get a call. Usually I get a call from the pricipal when that happens. Dang. that changed the whole morning.

Thanks guys. My daughter and my mother in law (I am in a hotel due to no water and tree on house) would of been up and out at 730 wondering where everyone was at the bus stop.

This is sorta off subject, but ...

Dunno how it is now, but when my kids were in NF Elementary, snow days were few and far between. Schools in Coarsegold would close with 2 or 3 inches of snow, while NF kids would be plunging through thigh-high snow and trying to get to school. Sometimes the busses would slide trying to go up or down hill, even with chains.

I think ADA money might have been the reason, because after the students were in class a couple of hours, THEN it was OK to send them home! I used to just keep my kids home when conditions were that bad, as safety was (and is) my main concern, not money.

Hope things are way different for students now, in all Mountain Area schools.

thats exactly true. I was discussing that with my husband. I'm not sure but I wonder if the schools get paid when the kids just show up. then..if need, they send them home. thats sad to risk the safety of the kids just for $.
but then again..when you live in montana or other areas where snow is not an issue it could be blizzarding and the kids still need to attend. I think us Californians get a little paranoid when there is a little snow...

You are right! My friends in eastern Canada consider our worst California winters as "mild" over there. And we always act so surprised when it does snow here, even though it's been happening every year like clockwork.

Not to say that this year's fantastically low snow level is anything "usual." My son said it even snowed at the beach in Monterey Bay area. And look at Madera ... first snow since 1968!
