I heard a news report, two trains collided head-on in Madera by Country Club Drive and old 99. One report said they were traveling at approx. 70 mph when they collided. Haven't heard that anyone was hurt, conductors apparently jumped off and so did engineers. Don't know yet if there were any hazardous loads on board. Happened approx. 6 a.m. the trains are de-railed. It was only a matter of time, the trains roar through that city at well over the 55 mph they're supposed to travel.

They got minor injuries jumping out of the trains. Heck I would have jumped out too. Can you imagine and what a thing to see 2 trains colliding into each other.

Yep, the houses are way to close to the tracks. And the railroads refuse to do the 55 mph that the law says they are supposed to. My brother knew a lot about railroads and he used to watch them go through and say "if everyone who lived here could read those codes and see what is going through the towns in this valley, they'd have a heart attack". The police department, several years ago, put an officer at the tracks with a radar gun and clocked them through town. Then they forced them to stop and issued a citation for exceeding the speed limit. The engineer just laughed and tossed it on the ground. Real good attitude............ Glad no one got hurt.........this time, and lucky it didn't happen closer to the downtown area. With all the businesses and housing close to the track, if it ever happens there it's going to be bad.
