I ma not sure of the name of the place but they just opened up in the old True Value lot. I had the best BBq sandwich I have ever had (Sorry Todd). The prices was right and I spent about 30 minutes talking with the husband and wife that own the place. I will for sure be back.

I love Todd's so I can't imagine better BBQ, but I will try it out sometime. Is it a restaurant or an outdoor BBQ place like the one in Coarsegold at the gas station?

I stopped by there today also and LOVED it. I have always been a big fan of Todd's and still am but I do believe these guys are onto something. I had the pulled pork and it was great! My friend had the tri tip and said it was great too. The name of the place was Big Country's BBQ. I highly recommend it.

New BBQ place in town? you mean trailer. Todd's is rated very high and doubt this place even got any business as I was in the OLD MILL CENTER all day and basically saw no one there sorry BBQ trailer people). They just opened and are already trying to say they can beat a Todd's sandwich, good luck. Those posting were very suspicious if you ask me. I'm new too to the forums, but for them to come out the gates comparing to Todd's, lets be real. Todd's has become a staple to the town and serves more than great BBQ, my wife gets their fish n chips or 1/3 pound burger, while I always get the Pulled Pork which is the best. Plus, at Todd's you can actually sit down and eat! Nice try, but I don't think so. Todd's is the real deal!

Not trying to start a war here Good lord. I had the food at the trailer as you put it and it was good, Just my opinion. I also really enjoy Todd's but prefered this. Be the judge for yourself. I am not really sure where the hostility came from in some of the previous post. I am new to the forums here and not trying to casue an issue. I thought this was about posting opinions of our own on things. I understand that the trailer people as you put it will be here off and on between other evetns. So I will eat there again. You can or cannot try their food. You may prefer it to Todd's or you may not. That will be up to you to decide.

I just heard about this sight yesterday form one of the few customers we had so I thought I would see what it was all about and WOW. Amazing the dialogue on here. It seems to be a great site for learning about the community. I registered so I could respond to some of the things in this thread.
First of all I have no idea who Mountainsinmyblood or Alleycat are but thanks for the nice words and I hope you will come see us again.
To Memphis, Todd's is great food no doubt but free enterprise is a wonderful thing. I also cook a great Que along with many other Items. We have won numerous BBQ contests and are very well respected in the Que circuit. I am not in anyway trying to down Todd's or any other business anywhere we go. We are just trying to make our dreams come true by doing what we love and providing for our family.
We (My wife and I) have alot in this set up and hope you all come try out oour food. I am not up there today as I have a previous commitment in Clovis Bit I will be up again tomorrow.
Yes Memphis is right we have only had a few customers come by in the three days we have been open but all new businesses take time and I know that when people try our food they will have a good meal and hopefully enjoy it enough to come back.
Just so anyone reading this knows DO NOT let the trailer comment scare you. I know the stigma attached to trailers can be a negative one but the trailer is brand new and without going into exact pricing just rest assured that the cost is more then most restuarant buildouts and has to meet the same and stricter codes than full eat in restuarants do. It has been inspected by the State fo California's housing and community developement and been inspected by both the Fresno county health department and Madera County Health Deparmtent. It passed all its inspections with flying colors. (on file in trailer if anyone would like to take a look)We have all of our business licenses, permits, etc. We are fully insured and 100% up to or above the standards of any restuarant.
No we at this time do not offer a sit down area. If you are looking for good que and want to sit down inside thenI would say go to Todds they certainly do a really good job.If things go well we will look at offeringan area to sit but witht he heat and the harsh winter we may have to wait unitl we have a hard resturant (in the works)
If you want some good food fast and at a fair price then our business may be the one for you. If you come by and tell me you heard about us on Yosemite forums I will be more then happy to let you have some free samples to try out.
I hope there is no bad blood here between who ever Memphis actually is and us. We have no desire to cause trouble. I owned a business here in Oakhurst for almost 10 years previosly and understand the rumor mills that can run away with non facts. That is one reason I wanted to inform you all about some things. Feel free to stop by and say hello and try some Que or a fresh fruit smoothie. I am always up for chatting about just about anything.

Mountains, yes this is the place to post your review. Yes, you did it properly & we all had to start with a first post about something. Your opinion counts, and it is appreciated to have an heads up about somewhere new to eat in town.
Todds has become a staple to most of us. It's comfortable, friendly, the food is good & since they got their beer/wine license...
Gonna have to give this other place (anyone have a name for it yet?) a try. Do they have any seating areas? Picnic tables?

We will have to check it out. Having more choices in Oakhurst is a good thing. We drove by today looking from Hwy 49 and could not see it and then we went by Jack in the box and could not see where you were set up. We did not drive up the hill to the drive in entrance. Are you setup bu where they rented out the equipment? that was the only place that we could not see from down below. We will have to check you out on another day. See ya soon. Oh, and Welcome to the Forums :)

BCB, I'm not slammin' you, just wanted to give props to Todd's as it was one of a few good restaurants to open in the mountains in the last few years and stay. They do a great job and whoever made the little comparison was slightly rude. Todd's is a great place for all kinds of food, not just BBQ.

We all appreciate you letting us know about the new place in Oakhurst.
This is what this forum is for.
I smell something fishy:cool:
All three of you are new to the forums and the first few post are about this new place.
So I did some looking.
You all have the same IP address from a Valley ISP “Comcast”
I own a business and first started posted on this site not to promote myself but to see what was going on locally.
My first few Post was a heated Debate with Newcomer about Buying local. Newcomer thought I was a jerk and now we are close friends and think of him and most of our extended online friends as family for we go out and do thing and support each other good or bad IN REAL face to face life.
After a few months I introduced my self and business to the WONDERFULL people of OAKHURST online. About a year latter my wife (pop-rocks) got online and now 90% of her closest friends are from the Oakhurst forums.
Can we start over and let us know who you all are and Let us know about you, your family and your nice little business making good food?
We would like to be a friendly group with out the games.
just be straight with us and tell us about your self.
If im wrong and all three of you are not the same People/ Family. I would like to apologies but I’m only looking at the fact that you have the same IP address and have joined about the same time.

I have no idea about the IP deal I registered and posted from my wireless on my laptop while on site here in Clovis. I do not know much about how these all work but I guess it could be possible I was on a network with someone elses stuff. I really have no idea. Sorry if there is any confusion or question about this. So who knows about the others but sorry that you feel anything is fishy. I certainly would not do anything to cause an issue.

If this is the case I am very sorry and would never have supported this type of behavior. I ma very much against it in fact. But on a better note I will be up there tomorrow so if anyone wants to come by and chat I would truly love to catch up with some of you and meet some new friends at the same time. Welcome all to the forums! We'd love to have you participate in the forum threads!
Ok - whether or not friends posted "mmm mmm" good BBQ - I'm sure we'll all try it and make our own decisions!
Its not odd for friends to want to support each other in that way.
We love Todd's (ALice and Todd are great people) - I like the atmosphere and food they brought to us. And will continue to go there - but also go for variety too and try to support all our local restaurants...heck if we don't (in the winter especially) we won't have them for our convenience!

That about sums it up. Not cool to have a friend, or yourself try to hurt another young business with some fake review by some unqualified buddy/amature food-critic. Even the spelling errors of 2 of the 3 new members in question match. This town is too quick to tip their hat and/or reject a new business based on hear-say, and thats why its not cool. Below are examples cut and pasted from original postings from the "customer" and the "owner" of BCBBQ. Funny they have same type key stroke error, and also say they talked for 30 minutes to the owners, but when BCB was telling his story, claims he had no idea who these people were....theories 1. he forgot about the 30 minute conversation that first day, 2. its a buddy 3.its him who posted. You be the judge. I am going to drop this whole topic after this posting and will not comment again One last thought, like the moderator said "be real".

I am not even going to get into this childish exchange with memphis. He goes from hostile to nice back to hostile. By the way since I more then explained my situation why don't you take the time explain yours. You register to these forums on 7-5-07 and by the way for those that do not know, memphis is style of BBQ) Try pulling the plank out of your own eye before you try to take the speck out of mine. I think the assumptions are already out there for both or us Memphis. I explained my situation and am very sorry for any confusion or doubt the situation caused. I spoke with the gentleman that made the posts last night after this situation was explained. I expressed my unhappiness. The bottom line here is if anyone wants to stop by and try my business out that is great I hope you enjoy it. If you choose not to try us out that is fine also. But I will not conitnue this childish thread. People I know made the post in an attempt to help us out. I am sure they meant no harm and never thought that the owner or someone associated with the owner of another fine establishment in the area would be so quick to try to bash another business.I just want to enjoy what I do and not be pulled inot any drama. I enjoy Todd's and have eatent here many times. I will eat there again. I also really enjoy my own Food but do not always want to cook. I do not really understand why this has gone to this so far. Everyone else seems to understand and be more then accepting. Sorry Memphis if you are so sensitive to this situation. If you are not associated in some way with a competing business then you should be by the way you are so quick to defend. By the way Memphis I am more then happy to release my real identity and psot proof if you would like ot do the same. I would love ot meet you. Feel free to stop by. I would love Todd and his wife to drop by and try some que. I am sure we would have a lot in common. I need to get ready t start my day and get up to yhe spot in Oakhurst now. It was a long one yesterday and I had to come back out here to wrap things up this morning. Thanks to all and I hope to see some of you soon.

Do you have anything constructive to add to the fourms ? If not don't post it is that simple. I have been here since the beging of time and this is a place for anyone to post if they can do it nicely. BBQ may have posted as someone else so what? If you want to bash take it somewhere else. I have ate at Todds it ok. I have not ate at this new place YET but plan on it and I am sure it will be ok. I have yet to be to a GREAT BBQ place here in Ca. There just ok not like what I have had in Kansas or down in Texas.

They may be friends... they may be able to call one another names... but they can not call one another names on these forums. That is Rule#1, always has been, always will be. No Name Calling. The average user and some of our Mods may not know what kind of friendship they have with one another. We are not getting into this game of some people being the exception from the rules. Everyone has the same rules to live by. This post was reported to me so I took action.
Anyways, I'll close this thread since there is not much more to discuss since this business is no longer around.
