Thank you Iris! I find that these quotes make me think about things a bit more, and make for a more positive outlook on life. No matter how bad my day may be, someone else out there is having a worse one, LOL, and I always have tomorrow to look forward to, it's bound to be better.

Besides, I adore the Rottweiler, LOL!

I adore the Rot pictures. Where do you find them? With a smile and through my tears I recall my rot/sheperd mix, "Maxx" who redefined the term, "unconditional love"; he was my companion and champion defender for 13 years. His back and hip problems, and the pain in his face were more than either he or I could endure, and we had to say goodbye. Anyway.... keep the pics coming!

I get the "Rotti" pics from a site for e-cards, Castlemountains.com. I subscribe to it and get an e-mail everyday. It's fun, not only do I find some really cute e-cards to send to my friends, but there's a word search puzzle, jig saw puzzles (both of which I am hopelessly addicted to), a calender of Special Days for the month (like today was Peanut Butter Day), but then there is "Rotti" and "Thought for the Day". I love Rotti because he reminds me of the Rottweiler that my parents used to have, Bear. He had to be put to sleep about 2 years ago, cancer. He was my brother's best friend and when we lost him, it was like losing my brother all over again. But the expressions on Rotti's faces remind me so much of Bear that I can laugh, I can just imagine him telling me this stuff. Silly I know.

I'm fairly new to the area, I'm new to this site and still quite inexperienced in communication via blogs and forums, but I've been following many of the streams posted here. Where does gratitude come in, you may ask? I am very thankful for all who post here. I haven't met many people in the area yet and after reading all your thoughts and opinions, I don't feel so alone.

So thank you, all of you who post, communicate and share your ideas and feelings for all to read. Sometimes it's hard to express what's in your head or your heart, but I can see that's done a lot here. I think I've found a place where I can do that now too.

And that is my expression of gratitude for the day. Far be it from me to keep that perfectly wrapped present from being given!

Welcome beebs, glad to have you here. Questions, ask away, someone will answer you. Want to vent/rant, rant/vent away, as you can see, people listen and someone most always responds. Want to share some information, this is a great place to do it. Need business recommendations, you can get some good information here too. Have fun, post lots and make friends. I'm not able to participate because I'm usually not in town, but sometimes some members get together for lunch once a month or so. Sandman, the head honcho can give you details on that. I was able to make a get together when I first joined and was able to put some faces to names. Lots of friendly people, lots of funny people and lots of passionate-about-what-they-believe people.

Actually I was fortunate, I was in my son's driveway. I guess there's a silver lining to most things. When the transmission had trouble in November, it was coming down Deadwood. Now THAT was an interesting ride! Currently, Ford Lithia and our auto insurance are fighting over whose going to pay for this. The car is only 5 years old, with less than 60,000 miles on it.

LOL, some days you can "walk away", but ~sigh~ sometimes it's so danged hard to hide. I can relate to your eternity on Deadwood, that particular area is in my nightmares at times. It's why I won't drive in snow or ice.

The snow and the ice are definately NOT a good mix for me neither, especially on Deadwood. I wont consider taking it if its snowy or icy after my "lights out" event....to darned many things that could go wrong, like how many times have you passed someone who was MORE than over the line, in your lane of traffic? Just for one example ! More times than I like to remember!!! Thats one thing about living here in NF now. I dont have to deal with Deadwood crossings most of the time if I head down to the valley ~ :)

especially on Deadwood.

So where exactly is Deadwood? Is it an area or a street? Haven't yet had much opportunity to drive around in snow or ice around here except for yesterday and I didn't have to leave the house, but I'm thinking it can't be any worse than Cheyenne, WY where I moved from. Of course then I had 4-wheel drive. Are there any roads in particular that get closed quickly if it does start snowing heavily? So far the winter here for me has been a treat!

Deadwood is the hill you come over as you enter Oakhurst from the valley on 41. It doesn't bother my dad either, but he grew up in Nebraska. I was always a valley girl till I moved up here, combine icy roads/snow with the curves up there and the idjit drivers, and yep, I get scared. Curvy roads during day are bad enough, at night I feel myself tightening up even more. It's the price I pay for living up here, that's fine, but during winter ice/snow, I just prefer to avoid it and sit home when I can and enjoy the view of the snow from my livingroom window. (Yeah, I know, some people are just cowards, LOL, of course others would say I know my limitations!) I don't have 4WD and wouldn't be able to put chains on by myself, so that would limit me enough even without the fear. But would I move, nope.

Deadwood is the hill you come over as you enter Oakhurst from the valley on 41.

AhHa! I know where you mean. I can imagine those corners could get pretty squirrelly when the road is slicker than snot. And you're right...it's one thing to be a safe driver, but you can't control what the other guy is going to do, or not do.
The one really big difference between here and S.E. Wyo and Neb. is that there the roads are all straight, here they are curvy, curvy, curvy. When I first moved here I would get a little dizzy every time I'd drive around. (It was a good excuse for awhile anyway for when I did really dumb things).
I suppose I ought to invest in some chains for my car. But like you said, small price to pay to live here.
Drive safe!

Yea, the curves.....There are alot of those around that have earned ominous reputations too ! for either being coverred with black ice, or that fact they remain coverred under packed snow ~ yup, winter time driving up here can be an experience, and chains are a cheap price to pay for the pleasure of living here

Even with chains I don't care to learn to drive in those conditions, but then I'm retired and don't HAVE to be anywhere until I get there (a blessing most of the time). If the weather is bad, I can stay at my son's in the valley if I'm down there. If I know bad weather is coming, then I go down early enough to avoid to snow and ice. It works out nicely. Not everyone has that option, I'm lucky that I do. And I don't worry so much about my driving, it's the idjits on the road that scare me, when they come around those curves, they're in their lane and MY lane too!

I just followed this thread all the way to the beginning. Man, there's a lot of inspiration here! I want to copy all those sayings down on cards and throw them in a hat. Then, every day, pull one out and read it. Did you ever notice how sometimes what you really need to hear comes your way? I bet that's how it would work with the hat.

Couldn't agree more. Without a day of unruly weather, we wouldn't appreciate a calm day and without a dry spell we wouldn't appreciate the rain. And about the hat, I know it works. I have a book called Until Today by Iyanla Vanzant. It's one of those daily message books. I don't read it every day, but on the days I do it's always right on. Stewardesses - is the longest word typed with only the left hand

Lollipop - is the longest word typed with your right hand.

No word in the English language rhymes with - month, silver, orange or purple.

"Dreamt" is the only English word that ends in the letters "mt".

The sentence: "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" uses every letter of the alphabet

The words 'racecar,' 'kayak' and 'level' are the same whether they are read left to right or right to left (palindromes).

TYPEWRITER is the longest word that can be made using the letters only on one row of the keyboard. (All you typists are going to test this out)

There are only four words in the English language which end in "dous": tremendous, horrendous, stupendous, and hazardous. (You're not doubting this, are you?)

A snail can sleep for three years. (I know some people that could do this too.!)
