Scientists have discovered a new orchid species that flourishes in the wet meadows of California's Yosemite National Park.

I saw this on the net a few days ago. However, I did see a big error in the report...

"The plant, which is the only known orchid species endemic to California's Sierra Nevada range, grows in spring-fed areas between 1,800 and 2,700 metres, Colwell said."

I've personally found over half a dozen orchid species from the lake on up to high country. In fact, I found a similar species to the new one discovered very near the pools at the top of Angel Falls. If you know what your looking for there are all over our mountains.
