We had a thread for this, but it was merged with the Szechuan thread. Since there is no longer a Szechuan....

Anyway, I went to 5 Star on Monday with Sandman & the food & service was good. They did their best to make us comfortable (it was a warm day and their air was only cooling off parts of the restaurant so they wanted us to sit where the room was cooler), the food was served quickly & was good.
I went again on Tuesday and although the same server was there we had a different one serve us... He totally screwed up my meal (um, beef is not the other white meat) then told me it was chicken & he could fix it...I told him it was OK, I like chicken, too..., but on the first bite I knew it was turkey. It was kinda funny cause baby Justin kept saying he wanted 'bock bock' and I told him, it's not bock bock it's 'gobble gobble'. The server looked kinda embarrassed. (what can I say I have SUCH a developed palate).
All would been cool but then he told us that the lunch specials were over at 3. :duh: the little card on the table says 4...
Ok, we got that figured out...
Will I go back? Definitely. The food was good, the prices were good, and I know which server to request... ;) (the younger one)

It's always nice to have some extra information so you know what you're dealing with...

My parents and I went there last week.
I am VERY picky about my Chinese food. I ordered broccoli beef and I loved it.
The only trouble we had was that my mom ordered white rice instead of the fried rice that she got. lol, she ate the fried rice though.
Totally going to go back. :)

We finally tried the new chinese place and it was just awful. Didn't taste like chinese food at all. The restaurants here are slowing going to pot.... We need our old chinese restaurant back at least they knew how to cook.

Christmas in Oakhurst...GRR!! We wanted to go ut to dinner after the show; our 'right in town' choices were Carl's Jr or the 5 Star. We chose the 5 Star. Obviously they were caught off guard and under staffed, but at least OUR server seemed to have a clue. The food....well...um...er...ya...that. The biggie--without going into detail--our overall experience was extremely politically incorrect. Let's just Denny's and leave it at that.

I don't understand why none of you go to the New Jade Gazebo....every time I have eaten there over the past 6 months it's been good. So I haven't tried the 5 star...there are never many cars there which tells me something....

Not that I expect people to drive all the way to the coast for Chinese food, but if you ever find yourself in Marina, the best Chinese restaurant is Lee's Garden, off Reservation Road. The hot and sour soup is my favorite. They serve you a lot, though.

Lee's Garden is great! Chef Lee's in Monterey is yummy too! Why did I move?

New Jade - I agree completely. Haven't tried 5 Star yet but we've been happy with the Jade. Also, if you're willing to drive down to the Casino, I think the Noodle Bar is terriffic. They have recently upgraded and it is really good.
