Tonight (actually tomorrow morning) the Moon crosses into the shadow of the Earth, creating the longest eclipse in seven years.

that is prolly why the old email came out of hibernation.. the one stating that there will be two full moons tonight. Which is false (check www.snopes.com)
this sounds much more interesting.

Had the alarm set for 2:50, grabbed the camera (which I later learned wasn't charged..) as I walked out the door, and the first thing I saw was a shooting star.., Wow, that kinda woke me up. Watched from the lawn chairs for awhile, the moon was full, but mostly had a cloudy haze around it, then I got sleepy, and well, toddled back to bed without staying up for the entire thing.., anyone have pictures?

DRAT!!!! I missed the dang thing. I was thinking tonight was the night. I did wake up at 3:00 a.m. and remember thinking how dark it was when there was supposed to be a full moon out. Duh!

I got to see it!!! Yahoo! While on my drive this morning at 4:45 a.m.
...at least 1/2 way through and the tail end of it. I didn't think it would still be going on at that time, but it was!
I had totally forgotten about it - and then I saw it and it made me happy! A nice surprise because Lord knows I didn't want to be up and out that early today but had to!

Good for you KK!! I was working all night, and all plans to stand at a window of the hospital and check out the eclipse faded (no pun intended) as we got busier and busier with the labour of caring for the sick.

I had set the alarm and did get up to see it, but alas no camera - Rachel took it with her. Rob told me after the eclipse as the moon set over the mountains/desert down Lancaster way it was GIANORMOUS but he couldn't get pix either as cameras are a big NO! NO! coming into the property at Lockheed.
