Hi, this is my first post here. We have been checking out all kinds of little roads that randomly go off up around Chiquito creek. There's lots of neat little camp sites back in there. I'm wondering if we need a wilderness permit to use them. Has anyone ever used the site out at the end of 6s01y off grizzly road? In the oxbow on chiquito creek. It's obviously been much used, it's nicer than most campgrounds. Very nice spot.

Generally speaking, if its got a road going through it, it's not Wilderness.
(There are a few exceptions for existing 4x4 trails, but none close by. Above Shaver lake there are a few examples)
If it's a designated camp site, with a fire-pit, campfires are OK. Otherwise you're supposed to get a free campfire permit from the U.S.F.S. or Calif. Dept. of Forestry.

OOPS
I guess that's what I meant, a campfire permit.
