Am in the first stages of trip planning! In phase one of the trip, we are hoping to take the coastal route with side ventures through California, Oregon, and Washington. What is a 'must see'? I am into the strange and the odd sights as well!!

I would send away for the state visitor's guide for Oregon and Washington. I believe the Yosemite Visitor's Bureau in Oakhurst will have a state guide for Calif.

I know Santa Rosa isn't right on the coast, but think about checking our Safari West http://www.safariwest.com It's expensive but alot of fun and the cabins are nicely set up. Near there is the Petrified Forest, almost 200 wineries and the Culinary Institute of America which has an amazing restaurant, Greystone.

Make the time to talk to Epic....you should come over and watch a hockey game and visit with us. He's from Bellevue, WA with family still in Seattle and also some family in Oregon. He has a website he made with a friend...http://www.us-101.com/

When I lived in Wa. state, I had to drive down here to see my Grandma before she died. On the way home I took the coast starting at San Fran. all the way to Wa State. I lived in the northern part of the state. It was a beautiful drive with lots of little towns. I can't wait to do it again and I highly suggest it. As a matter of fact I wanted to move to Coo's Bay Oregon.

Yep, Epic's web page looks exciting! Thanks! Both J and I had forgotten about Coo's Bay Messy--thanks for reminding us that we want to go there!!

be sure to visit Mt St helen's if you haven't already been there. It's not on the coast- but it is worth seeing!

Also The san Jaun Islands north of seattle- gorgeous! Take the car on the ferry and drive your vehicle around Orcas Island.

Olympic rain forest was overrated- and driving around the tip of WA is long....

The Oregon Coast is stunning. The drive between Northbend and Lincoln City is pretty easy and you'll see all the classic beauty. There are several lighthouses along the way and I think it would make a nice theme to chose as your destinations agenda along the coast...

Will you be driving a convertible? best way to sightsee!!

What a great drive! I've taken Highway 1 up into Oregon and it was awesome. Must sees: I would definitely say Ferndale, CA up toward the north and Eureka. Ferndale is one of my favorite little towns. It is where The Majestic was filmed. good luck and have fun!!!
