Today I was coming from Coarsegold and going to Climate Control Systems in Enterprise. I turned in off 41 into Vons, went past the hardware store, turned left at the car dealership, went back behind the gym and came out at the store. By doing this I avoided 2 traffic lights and was so proud of myself! Also when I want to turn left out of the McDonalds/Pizza Factory parking lot, I go over and out by the gas station and avoid all the people turning left into the shopping center. What shortcuts do you use to help you get around town?

Coarsegold( 41) to Bass Lake or Teaford/North Fork area -- without towing the boat though - Thornberry - Road 420... avoid Oakhurst and any traffic lights all together!
Not gonna give away my real shortcut I take home and to work! Its my secret and wouldn't want any more traffic on it!!! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/wink3.gif

But don't try to take 420 in the wet months. That claylike mud will sink your vehicle. It's better now than in the past few years, but still sticky.

hee hee you expect me to believe you DodgerGirl!!! I know that is your personal shortcut and you don't want us driving it and want it all to yourself!
http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/laugh.gif Just kidding!
Thanks for that tip - I've never used it when its wet. (I have seen one kid with his truck rolled over the side once, the "kids" like to race through the 420 and it has a lot of blind curves, so take it slow.)
Another good shortcut is from our area - by the Rodeo Grounds to YLP - take the 415 to 400 (River Road) and wahlah - you're there faster and without 41 traffic.

Dogergirl is right, don't take 420 when it is wet. What you might do instead is just past the 3000 ft level on 41, turn right onto 425B. That will take you to 426 near the Grocery Outlet. It isn't the best road in the world but it is paved all the way. This was the Oakhurst main street until 41 went in.
