I'm looking for a good therapist in Oakhurst to help deal with issues of personal loss and possible marriage counseling. Any pointers would be appreciated.
Thanks!

It's come to my attention that the only way to receive counseling in the Oakhurst area is to make sure you have no money and no insurance. If that is the case, there are many pretty good options out there. You can pm me and I'll give you names and locations of some good therapists.
Unfortunatly if you do have insurance or God foribid make enough to live on, you might as well start looking in Fresno.
One of my particular issues is anxiety...therefore I have a really hard time getting myself to Fresno, so ...no therapy for me.
If you learn of someone in the area who takes insurance and is good, let me know I'd be very interested!
Good Luck!

Hi Mystee, help me out here. You said that unless you have no insurance and no money good luck, and then you said if you do have insurance or money good luck also. Are you saying that unless you're on welfare its hard to get a therapist? I think I'm missing something.

"the only way to receive counseling in the Oakhurst area is to make sure you have no money and no insurance"
The above is what I'm saying...in my experience (and I have more then I'd like to admit)
If I didn't have insurance / or didn't have a job, I could go to several places for affodable or free Therapy, right here in Oakhurst.
Being that I have insurance through my work I have to go to Fresno.
Before I had insurance through my work, I had to pay aproximatly $70 an hour for counseling/therapy, This was the cost with several I checked with in Oakhurst.
I do have a job and so does my husband. we are not rich, or even well off by any standards, however we do have a house (which has a long way to go befoe its paid off) and we apparenlty make too much to get a break on therapy.
No...I'm not complaining...just stating the facts of what I've run into regarding the topic.

That is good info to know. It so happens I know of a family in real need of therapy for one member - have no ins. and recently now out of a job. I suggested they apply for Medi-Cal, don't know if they have yet or able to get it. Could you PM me with suggestion of who to contact here in town? Thanks.

Summer, they can check through the Madera County Mental Health Department for available counseling. The fee charged is based on the family/person's income. I believe they have offices up here that do the counseling, but they would probably have to call the main offices in Madera to find out the details.

Regardless of the money, I'll take the names of any private practice therapists in Oakhurst. I dont' want to go to the County one on Rd. 426.
I don't have insurance now (not because of the money, because insurance companies in this country are raping Americans. Michael Moore was right-on in everything in 'Sicko'. Blue Cross sucks) but I can pay out of pocket.
Are there any private practice therapists in the greater Oakhurst area?
Thanks,
W.
